It’s an official logo and is used on the football helmets. Seemed like for a while, aside from the simple JSU, “J’Ville State” was the abbreviation used by TV networks. Yuck. Jax State has become customary over the years and it seems like their university might be leaning into it. Had no idea JSU considered name changes.

To be clear, the *University* never officially/publicly considered the name changes I mentioned. That discussion took place entirely among fans on the old GoJaxState forum. (We were bored.)

But yeah, the University did officially rebrand to "Jax State" last fall, in part to differentiate itself from Prime U. Ironically, as soon as it was announced, Jackson State fans claimed "Jax State" was theirs all along and we were only rebranding to capture a part of THEIR spotlight. We had to prove to them that our fight song, written when Deion Sanders was just a twinkle in his daddy's eye, begins, "Fight on! Fight on for ol' Jax State!"

Even then, some of them didn't buy it. What can ya do?
