It appears UNT is modifying their scheduling going forward. UNT's OOC schedules had been....

P5 (home/away)
G5 (home)
G5 (away)
FCS (home)

But, beginning around 2027/28, UNT seems to be adjusting this philosophy to....

P5/Army (home/away)
G5 (home)
G5 (home)

Maybe it is too far out to be certain, but as of now UNT has no G5 away game scheduled after 2026, and no FCS programs scheduled after 2026. Our only OOC road games are part of home and home series with Baylor, Texas Tech, Missouri, Colorado, & Army.

Have any of you analyzed your future OOC schedules? Do you have any observations to make? I'm interested to know if this is part of an overarching AAC philosophy.

That would require UNT to buy G5 games which they are in no position to do. P5 teams buy G5 games because it makes financial sense as they can make more from the gate of one of those games than they pay the G5 school. The going rate for a typical G5 one off game is more than UNT makes annually across all sports in ticket sales.

And yet despite your opinion, UNT is making it happen. You clearly have no idea what UNT is in a position to do. After 2026, UNT has no FCS programs scheduled that would hurt our strength of schedule. UNT eliminated our road game at Wisconsin in 2025, because it was not a home & home series. And, there are no road games at any G5 programs after 2026. Here are our current OOC schedules beginning in 2027. #AmericanPower! 04-rock

2027
09/11 - Texas Tech
09/18 - Wyoming

2028
09/02 - at Baylor
09/09 - Louisiana Tech
09/16 - Army

2029
09/01 - Baylor
09/15 - FIU
09/29 - at Army

2030
08/31 - Texas State
09/14 - Missouri

2031
09/13 - at Missouri

2032
09/04 - at Colorado

2033
09/03 - Colorado

By this list of OOC games, UNT will be playing 7 homes games every season beginning in 2027 or 2028.

UNT has no FCS games past 2026 because those are easy to schedule on shorter notice. You will most definitely play FCS teams.

You need to read my last post. Yes, UNT has added FCS games. Those FCS games are allowing the Mean Green to play the 2027, 2028, 2029, & 2030 seasons with 7 home games. And, UNT will host 3 Power conference programs during that four-year run of 7 homes games. In my opinion, that is some serious scheduling.

Also, UNT will soon be announcing another power conference home & home series.

Did you cancel your game at Wyoming in 2030 ?

Or do you feel they will be in the PAC and still be a power conference ?

No. UNT is still going to Wyoming in 2030. That will be our only OOC road game that season. When I find out which power conference program we are signing the home & home with, I'll post it here.

UTSA adds Kennesaw State for 2024.

I’d say meh overall. New Mexico State cancelled 4 games last month, which led to a small pool of G5 schools available next year. Was hoping for San Jose State but that got shot down from UNT.

Is Kennesaw in transition to join CUSA?

Yeah, that game at UTSA will be Kennesaw's first as an FBS team: https://ksuowls.com/news/2023/8/8/ksu-fo...-utsa.aspx
