I don’t want to carry the analogy too far, but I think it still works. (And, since I am as dense as any on this board, you may actually be agreeing with me here and I’m not spotting it.)
Even if you and I (and more importantly, the jury) are in full agreement that Ms. Borden was innocent, she has no business whatsoever putting herself into consideration for daughter-of-the-year honors. Fairly or unfairly, too many people think she got away with murder.

A research project looking for skewed results to confirm an issue that is not an issue and when the results reflect that the issue is not an issue then attack the research as confirming the issue that is not an issue.
