ABOUT 30 MAN
Yep, $36m by the end of this deal. Everything is predicated on the next deal which is assuming the Big Ten will receive another massive increase, including paying UO and UW more than the entire Pac 9 was being offered.
DOESN'T ADD UP
you assume all offers are alike ...

Luke Decock speaking with Syracuse.com:
Quote:… “So I would argue that Florida State does not need more money. It needs to get good at athletics, which it has not been in a decade.’'
DeCock said ACC ADs he had talked with were not taking Florida State’s threats seriously.
“If they want to leave the ACC, which honestly, I’ve talked to a couple ACC ADs whose joke is, ‘OK, they want to pay us $500 million, let them go,’ ” DeCock said, “because they’re going to be playing independent football on the CW at best.’' …

All FSU has done is burn bridges and piss people off by undermining the league with their public buffoonery. If it comes to it, the ACC will go after every penny it is owed.

Thanks for the share, it's a good piece.

RE: Is FSU Really Buying Their Way Out?
Did yall see what Arizona State president said about FSU....believes they're trying to create a private tv network.....below is that clip at the 7:10 minute mark...then the host from WVU goes on to discuss
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pocc2pS5b2M
I don't if they're trying to do this all on their own, or bringing 7+ friends with them if thats a legit idea...

It's utterly laughable.
The PAC12 tried to own their own network, and you can see how well that worked out.

I think the ASU President was just incorrectly referencing the private equity firms (JP Morgan has been the suggested broker) that FSU is approaching to raise potential buyout funds.
However, whenever I think of this private equity idea, I keep envisioning FSU as the foreclosed Detroit from Robocop. Once a private entity gets it's hooks in to FSU. The debt will never be satisfied.

...because as experience tells us, selling equity to foreigners and other investors who don't know your business and don't care about it beyond the profit it can make them ALWAYS works out best, right?

The imagery I get is that of a payday lender. The customer is saddled with a crippling debt at an astronomical interest rate and they'll never be able to get out from under it.

I can't imagine borrowing $500 mil at 8% interest so you can make $30mil more in TV revenue. The interest alone on the principle is $40 mil.

All while being mad about being paid 8% less than the value you bring to the ACC.

RE: Is FSU Really Buying Their Way Out?
League commissioner Jim Phillips declined comment but several athletic directors did not after Alford's remarks Wednesday.. After the board meeting, a group of ACC ADs discussed how to best address the remarks and decided North Carolina athletic director Bubba Cunningham would speak first publicly on their behalf. Cunningham told a local radio station Thursday it did the ACC no good for Florida State to be "barking like that."
Did JP say anything about FSU?
He vows to 'vigorously defend' himself in his own lawsuit but doesn’t want to defend his conference?
