UVA beat the spread

UVA waiting until October 6th to announce a kickoff time?

Uva freshman QB looked really good. Uva came out flat after the weather delay, and lost the game. That is on the coaches. JMU does not look as strong as they were last year. UVa defense is solid against the run.

Agree, JMU not as good as they were with Centeio at QB last year.

Musket getting hurt looks like a blessing in disguise for UVA because the freshman QB was really good.

The Tribe needs to improve on both sides of the ball and on special teams if they want to be a high seed in the playoffs.

I think the Tribe needs to go over when to call fair catch on kicks. Returners have been not getting past the 25 on kickoffs and I thought we fair caught a punt at the 6 once. I watched/listened to so many games i may have the punt play mixed up with another game. You don't want to take a team's aggressiveness away, but you have to be smart.

I agree. I remember twice the Tribe fielded kickoffs 2-3 yards deep in the end zone. The first time the returner made it to about the 18 yard line. The second time to about the 28. So, unless it is do-or-die time when you gotta have a TD, just take the knee and avoid injury.

Also, I don’t know if the kicker who handled FGs was the same guy who handled kickoffs…but some of our kickoffs were alarmingly short. Definitely want to see more touchbacks when we are kicking off.

Both kickers handled kickoffs, Bonoffski early and (I believe) the left-footed kicker, Harvey, in the second half. Neither kicker really has the leg strength to put it into the end zone, with consistency.

I’ve noticed Bonoffski’s kicks, too. Seems about half are fielded between the 5 and goal line, the other half between the 5 and the 10. I don’t remember seeing any go over the goal line yet this year. His first long FG attempt at Campbell was woefully short, too.

When Chang transferred, the end zone kickoff went with him.

Distance aside, hit or miss, Bonoffski seems to kick right down the middle on every fg attempt.

Agreed

His range is about 10-15 yards shorter than Chang from last year but still average for FCS play. We have been spoiled by Chang.
