Russian sovereign wealth fund
With oil prices so high, and Russian oil selling well above the hard limits NATO and the West are helpless to enforce, Russia is again investing oil proceeds in the fund.
A sovereign wealth fund is a type of investment a country makes with proceeds from exports. An example of an export is all of the stuff we buy from China. We import the things China makes and we give them our money. That makes China the exporter in that simple scenario.
China and Russia are net exporters. That means they sell more than they buy. The United States is a net importer. That means we buy more than we can sell. Sometimes when that happens, countries that can’t manage their money very well, from either spending a lot on wars, corruption, or other ways government gives money to connected people, those countries then have to borrow money. That is what is called debt. And we have a lot of it. And large debt is usually considered a bad thing.
Anyway, the concept of the sovereign wealth fund is to have money set aside for the future. Let me think of a clearer way to explain it for the typical American—it’s like debt, but in reverse, because it’s not yet spent, and makes money instead of costing money.
China, Norway, Switzerland, nearly all of the large economies all over the world have these. Mostly countries that don’t waste every dime they ever had and borrow $34 trillion more and blow thru that.
I am not sure if having a sovereign wealth fund every comes up in Congress. I’d have to check. Perhaps some of the patriots here can keep me up to date.
And btw, my economics lesson is free, complimentary, on the house, no charge.

You’ve got a real shot at that open speech writer slot for Kamala Harris.

He won’t say. I’m guessing it’s sexual, something about Putin shirtless on a horse maybe?
Seriously, he’s not wrong with a lot of stuff he says. People forget that when Putin first came to power he tried to get Russia into NATO stating the country’s European values. The US told them to pound sand and that solidified in his mind that NATO was t an alliance but an arm of the US government.

I was just curious, there may be a legit reason. He's free to not say, as well.

Hooray the Elites in Russia are wealthy.
Please go stay there in the countryside and report back to us how glamorous it is to live on a penance.

The flag wavers know our press is lying to us, yet when confronted with any fact that runs contrary to what the Western press says, they dismiss it as propaganda.
As soon as this operation started, the press came out saying that Russia is about to collapse, and all we have to do is give Ukraine enough money and it will all be over.
But it’s not over. And all the money we have spent for a year and half hasn’t worked. The Russian economy didn’t crater. They can make weapons. The sanctions really aren’t working. There are 54 countries arming and funding Ukraine.
But Russia has drawn a line in the sand and is not going to accept any more NATO encroachment. The US can accept that fact or not, but it’s getting expensive. All we have done is borrow a ton more money, show that Russia isn’t the pushover we claimed they were, pissed off our European allies for crashing their economies, and give a huge boost to China.
And I am not going to support the globalist agenda, even if our media spends billions to convince me to. We miscalculated. We screwed up and pushed too far this time. American foreign policy is not working for us.
