I wouldn't start gloating just yet. The season is still young.
You view that post as gloating...
The OOC schedule is pretty mature.
I bet both conferences go .500 in conference.
Just to keep things in perspective, the Sun Belt has been feasting on the CUSA newbs. ECU being the exception. ECU lost their outstanding QB and replaced them with what may be a bust. ECU has an uphill battle in front of them.
Aside from ECU, the pre-season top four teams have had their way with the Sun Belt teams we played.
Memphis beat Arkansas State 37-3 on the road. We basically ran it up the middle for the last quarter and a half not to embarrass them.
Tulane beat Southern Miss on the road 21-3 with a backup QB. Tulane or Memphis gave up a single touchdown.
UTSA beat Texas State 20-13 without their star QB.
The SunBelt didn't get better by the AAC getting worse. The bar just got lowered.
For the record, I personally did not want to chase markets. I wanted good teams with passionate fan bases. Similar to my school.
In 2020 we were told to keep winning in football because that is what drives the bus. This go around, that seems to be the least important thing. This time it was about academics (virtue signals), and market sizes.
ESPN is just throwing **** on the wall and seeing what sticks.
Aresco isn't running this conference. ESPN is. Look at their track record for success.
