Both teams are very hungry for a win. NIU has had problems on offense while Tulsa has struggled to stop very potent opponents Washington and Oklahoma on consecutive weekends.

Northern Illinois is the second Tulsa opponent with the Huskies nickname (Washington 9/9). After this game, the Golden Hurricane will face THREE consecutive opponents nicknamed the Owls. Temple (9/28), Florida Atlantic (10/7) and Rice (10/19). Hoo-Hoo ever else has had such a schedule?

Tulsa's QB is elusive and does a more than decent job seeing the field on the run, but he just can't throw as he scrambles. In just this quarter, he's had one wide open TE that he way overthrew, and just now short-hopped what would have been an easy TD. An 8-pt lead with under 5 minutes should be a much more imposing 12-pt lead.

Line judge missed a call on the prior first down to NIU's benefit. Should have called forward progress (and a running clock) at the 39. Instead he gave the NIU RB credit for getting out of bounds at the 40.

Doesn't matter, anyway. INT seals it. Tulsa wins by 8.

Tulsa was not flashy but they got the job done. A much needed win after getting pounded the last two weeks.

If we can ever get healthy at QB... our starter went down on 5th play of the season. Our backup went down in second game. Our 3rd string got us romped at OU and had to bring back in injured second string QB. This week we played with a hurt second string. Not sure when our starter will return . Ugh

I’d like to take this opportunity to say to you Tulsa fans a compliment from my journey over the past few months.

Your fan base and Tulsa centric private forums are very glued into the landscape of The American and overall cfp landscape. I was blown away by how much you all care about football and sports on your behalf. Not even the Army or other fan centric private forums display to me so much.

Put it in perspective, i would say it rivals ECUs and UConn’s pulses at minimum. I love how passionate y’all are and glad you got a win. Hope you all have a great weekend
