Not even a blip on the radar.

Tried to tell them that. All the chicken littles that were so sure there would be no Republican appointed Speaker and---that Liz Cheney would be Speaker with Democrat votes. Gawd.

More interesting to me was the interview I caught yesterday that raises the claim that it was McCarthy acting behind the scenes to sabotage both Scalise and Jordan hoping to orchestrate his own return to the Speakership. It became clear he was behind the frustrating road blocks when McCarthy was the only opposing vote against a voice vote proposal to disregard the rules and quickly move directly to a head to head vote between the two top finishers behind Emmer. It seems McCarthy didnt want that fast track route to happen because it would not allow him time to round up a crew of blocking votes. Surprise surprise----without that extra time to undermine the candidate---Johnson sailed through.

EDIT---(I see some others posted the same thing) Pretty clear McCarthy was a Republican saboteur.

Before you cry victory on how amazingly accurate your prophesies were you might want to step back and remember your claims were that it would be over in a few days and there would be a compromise center candidate because the centrists would never compromise. Instead it was the centrists who once again did compromise and elect someone pretty far on the right.

It would be like me going in this thread going look I was right the chaos lasted near a month and just as I said moderates do compromise with the people on the far right plenty. Though this far right vs moderate thing isn't entirely accurate when you look at individual voting records. It's wild to do a victory lap for being half right.

If you read my post---then you now know why it wasnt over in a few days. I dont think I really bragged on my own accuracy beyond indicating that I do think the Chicken Littles out there proclaiming that the sky was falling were dead wrong (and I said so at the time). So while it did take longer than I expected---we did ultimately elect a Republican Speaker without Democrat votes (a Speaker who, I might add, better represents the viewpoint of the largest group of Republican voters). They have gone back to work and have already passed one of the 8 federal funding bills left to be passed. Frankly, under McCarthy, Im not sure we'd be any further along than that if the motion to vacate had never happened.
