Mens basketball
I was just looking at the schedule to see how long I could delay subscribing to FLO and was happy to see that at least the first eight games are either on the ESPN app or FS2.

My point guard prediction. Coen will probably start the season with a vet but the eventual PG will be JB.

RE: Mens basketball
Hey Wiz....do you ever wonder why this site is called a discussion board? Because not much takes place in the way of discussions. What we have here is a couple of posters and a bunch of lurkers who contribute nothing in the way of information, points of view or other thoughts. When I post something I feel like I'm putting a message in a bottle and tossing it into a river. ....never to be seen again. Is there any point in trying to keep this site alive?

NUGuy, when have you posted anything the last month other than this one? I’ve posted something things since then and I just accept the fact that we just don’t have a lot of posters here. That doesn’t mean we need to shutdown the board or something. There are other active boards here that have gone without new topics for months.

I’ve been very busy work wise so I haven’t had the time to post as much as I’d like to.

Media Day is Thursday, so I’ll have more to say about hoops as my appetite for hoops will get going then. I also had a hoops topic for this season already posted, but you started this one. No biggie though.

I also don’t limit myself to just hoops. I post about hockey, baseball, soccer too, and I get minimal feedback or replies from anyone about that too. It is what it is…

Wiz....guilty as charged ...but after hockey season is over your posts are all about baseball.....the one sport that I was lousy at and the one sport that I have no interest in. But I'm glad that you know how I feel.

I'm going to give this a little more thought before abandoning ship with only you still aboard.

I'm a long time lurker but living in the mid-West, I see very little NU sports and this is one of the only source of news about NU sports. Don't abandon ship.

Duly noted on baseball. You're a Mass native so I assumed you like baseball of any kind - even if you sucked at it. :)

I can't and won't talk about hoops a lot in the off season anymore until either we make a coaching change or I see vast improvements in recruiting and/or wins and losses. Hockey has supplanted hoops as far as popularity and being nationally relevant and baseball is an up and coming Top 25 program (was in the T25 for a week last year and anticipation is higher in 2024).

I can't tell you what to do. Head back to DHD if you want constant chatter, but to be honest, it's not the same anymore either...

I try and contribute some commentary, though hoops is my favorite by far. With the exception of scheduling, we just finished a really dead part of the calendar so maybe that plays into it.

Another lurker who appreciates reading your passion for NU hoops & hockey. I only post when there is something I feel will be a helpful contribution to the board. Thanks for keeping this going Gwiz and all.

Agree about the coaching change. Nice guy, never any scandal, but NU should be better than a middle of the pack team. Time for change.

7th seems generous and pretty much gives Bill the benefit of the doubt. This program is going in the wrong direction. Cant see how we get more than 10 wins again this year. Anyone want to take a trip to Cabot to hold a vigil in the name of change?

It’s generous because five of the other 7 teams below NU are either first or second year CAA teams.

Look, if three of the freshmen class from last year take a step up and we stay healthy, we could conceivably do better than 7th. But there are too many “ifs” IMO.

Huskydog......Wiz and I love NU sports. If you do, too then POST. Are you hopeful? Do you have an opinion on our coaches? Make your case. Don't be a lurker.

I think we have to go with the combo of Woods, King and Sakota. I honestly don’t think the Frankel kid will play good enough defense to get major minutes.

Our PG will arrive next season…

Since I don't get to see them play, I can't judge the quality of the players other than what is posted here. That said, they probably do need a point guard. I will say, the Huskies consistently under perform. This is a coaching issue and has been ongoing for much of Coen's tenure. It's time for new coaching.

I agree, we are treading water again this year at PG. That means we'll probably shoot ourselves in the foot with turnovers for the 3rd year running. The preseason poll was interesting in that the residing CAA teams were the top 8 while the newer teams and Elon were 9-14. We may have invited enough bad teams to improve our percentile and win total
