Cig will certainly go hard as long as he's not accepted an offer anywhere else. Just makes sense.

That would probably be a good indication.
Also hoping that if there aren't that many transferring out that players are happy here. And even more so would be a good sign that the Montpelier Collective is working.
Not meaning to take this into another CC discussion, but I think the less his name is brought up could also show that he's not actively interviewing.

As for transfers, WF losing their top 2 QBs is quite a loss.
Miami losing Van Dyke is a more quality loss as Miami was good this year.

You do the job until you don't! Nothing is guaranteed. You never know what opportunities may present themselves until they do. Until they do, you go 100% as if you will be returning. The second you decide to move on, you are out of here. Just the way it is in business, and we are a business.

Transfer QBs Cignetti has started following on twitter:
Tyler Van Dyke - Miami
Will Howard - Kansas State
Max Brosmer - UNH
Tyler Shough - Texas Tech
Tayven Jackson - Indiana
Brendan Sorsby - Indiana
Matt Morrissey - Western Illinois
Noah Kim - Michigan State

Noah Kim, a Westfield HS product was a former 3* QB who chose Mich St over Va Tech back in 2020. Will be interesting to see where he lands.

Maybe Cignetti is not 100% sure McCloud comes back. Considering most of those guys only have a year of eligibility left.

Also I doubt we have a shot at Van Dyke or Howard, both will probably be pursued by P5 programs

Or just following them in case he leaves he has a QB or two to have to invite to his next spot. Wherever he might go probably doesn’t have a great QB situation.

Justice Ellison, RB from Wake in the portal.

He’s from Ashburn.

Would love to see us make a move for him. 1900 rushing yards last two years in the acc.

Cig is following him.

I don't think that's necessarily true. If anything, maybe he wants to bring in a better QB to bring competition to the position.
Cignetti was incredibly complimentary of McCloud and I think he is coming back.

Steel sharpens steel, but may also be looking to add quality depth.

Every year, it seems backups in FBS see some action. Noticed this happens with other SBC teams as well. Even a few series can change the outcome of a game.

Also wouldn’t be surprised to see QB2 and QB3 hit the portal and now we’re down to McCloud, Griffis and a couple of walk-ons. We’ve all wondered if Billy and Alonza were going to leave, if they are now would be the time.

Can someone explain why McCloud wouldn’t come back? JMU is his third home, he’s finally shining. Not being snarky, but what are his other options?

I didn’t realize he still had another season. A position we're thin at and needed to target anyway. Curious why he’d bolt a good team that he would be a major part of next season? He could have the breakout season Jalen Green just had.

Ukwu last year opened A LOT of eyes at JMU. He'll have P5 NIL offers.

Not sure he'd get the looks Ukwu had just because he got hurt in the first game so he doesnt have the stats or film. Everything will be based on last seasons stats

Will be interesting to see where he ends up

I assume he’ll get some P5 and NIL deals offered, but then again, he could also decide to stay at JMU should the P5 deals not measure up. Coming off a season ending injury many top programs may shy aware because he’s damaged goods without the stats. The grass isn’t always greener.

Seems kind of silly to transfer after this year as there won't be anything holding JMU back next season. Everything is up for grabs.
I would understand backups leaving as they probably want to start somewhere. But for starters that are crushing it, they will get attention and potential for awards and NFL opportunities.
