Well we scored at least 53.

Also, a big shout out to Coach Larry Tidwell, Tarleton Assistant Coach who had knee replacement surgery and is out for November. We are wishing Coach a very healthy recovery.

They lead practically the whole game I’m not sure we made him nervous, but we made a game of it. I think we can move our girls up at least one spot ahead of Rio Grande valley being that we did much better than them against tech. Hiring Brock was a home run hire. I think our girls are going to be much improved this year.

UTA never led against Lamar in the women's side of homecoming, dropping a 74-57 decision. It may be a long year on the women's side.

Whoa! Larry Tidwell works as an assistant at Tarleton? He left HC at UTRGV - one of our most successful WBB HC's, by the way - to do this?

Congratulations on staying in the game with Texas Tech.

not starting out very good and a couple of severe beat downs coming up. and after all the hoopla, the men barely eke out a win at home over ORU.

Not game related, but I didn't come across this until yesterday. I guess the investigation isn't having much impact. They are still 2-0.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
Over the weekend, our women played in the Navy Classic. On Saturday, we played Towson well, but still came up short losing 56-63. Opposite of that on Sunday, we dominated Navy winning 87-62. At one point we were up over 30 points. IF we can stay consistent, we will have a much better season.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
Looking forward tomorrow to the excitement of our home opening game for the WAC conference pitting our lady Wildcats against an old friend down the road, the UTA lady Mavericks. Just an hour later the men also open but they will travel to Arlington. I will watch the ladies' game in person and get home to watch the men on ESPN+ replay. The evening will be a full dose of basketball. Playing ya'll is going to be exciting and will stir memories of times past, which is why I enjoy rivalries--they add a flavor to the games that playing some unknown half a country away just does not have.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
While I'd say we had a good rivalry in football, in basketball, it was quite one-sided. UTA finished ahead of then-ACC four times in ten tries, but more telling, ACC won the conference title three times in that stretch while UTA won it twice in 50 years. ACC also had two runner-up finishes. Meaning half the time they were the cream of the conference. In those fifty years, UTA was a runner-up four times.

All time, ACU leads the series 21-9.

The women do lead the series 9-7.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
I had no idea of the complex history or won-loss records, just that we used to play each other often. I'm just glad we are in the same conference. I played one season before a terrible knee injury led to surgery and put me on crutches for months -- thank goodness there are no problems now, decades later. If you go to the men's game in Arlington, let us know what you think of this year's team. We are in a bit of transition with several relatively new players learning the tight defensive philosophy of Coach Tanner. Players are in and out of the game at a rapid substitution rate.

Wildcat Ladies put it on the Lady Mavs 94-76. Both teams have excellent shooters and make a ton of 3's but ACU is a bit more seasoned. The best thing about tonight was the coach called off the A team early and cleared the bench so we got to see all our players and get an idea of what they might could become in the future. Plus, our coach is not one that likes to run up the score. Once again Peyton Hull was magical, scoring 32 points in her shortened game. She had 34 against Navy. The Mavs have some small guards that can really shoot remarkably well.

We started a little slow, but then finally found our stride and never looked back. It is good to see our ladies play so aggressively.

We lost to SFA. Our girls have a ways to go but they are improved from last year. Still need a year or 2 to get better talent to be truly competitive but we are progressing. I think SFA Cal Bap and GCU are by far the best 3 in the league with everyone else far behind.

We trailed by four at half. It's been a struggle this year, but the cupboard may be bare if y'all broke open the game with the bench.

RE: 2023/24 women's basketball season
No, the bench did not break the game open at all. The game was competitive for sure but once a good lead was established, the bench got playing time. I did not intend to sound like the bench blew the game open. Actually, the Lady Mavs made up some ground against the bench. The lead got to 29 points and the Mavs got it back to 18.
We had two amazing performances last night with Hull's second 30+ point game and Bella Earle's second straight triple double. When those two got their numbers, they got a well-deserved sit down.

I think the Lady Mavs have some of the best three-point shooters I have seen. These are smallish guards who swish their threes almost every time. The first half was a remarkable exhibition of good shooting by the Mavs.
