Very very fortunate to block that kick. Did not like our chances in OT at all. A win is a win but this team continues to display major flaws on both sides of the ball. Winning on the road at Albany will be extremely tough. Not dead yet.

Love the victory. Nearly 300 yards in the air, 2 TDs and zero picks for Wilson. Game ball to Sean McElwain!

OR you could say finally the offense found its mark. Struggled in the second half but coming back and taking the lead back showed their poise and is a good sign for the future. Defense has played a lot of snaps and ppl are finding the holes but great stop at the end of the game.

The sky isn’t always falling.

Lots of things to fix, but a major positive is this was Darius Wilson's best game of the season. Add in some life from the receivers. The passing game isn't where it needs to be, but there is life.

From the radio call, that was the backup kicker for Monmouth attempting his first career FG.

Sounds like it was a fun ending, but I didn't see it. They played some kind of rap music with bad grammar. It made me lose my mind up in here, up in here, so I left.

Yeah, he replaced the guy who missed 2 extra points and a field goal for them last week.
He had, however, made 4 extra points earlier in the game, which were from about the same distance, albeit with less pressure.

RE: Football vs Monmouth
Good win. We’re at the point of the season where a CAA win is a win. If you had asked me at the start of the season I would have said we beat them by two touchdowns. But I will take the win against a middle of the conference team after seeing how the season has panned out.

We have the game of the year next week against a sneaky Albany team who if they didn’t lose to UNH a few weeks back would be top 15.

They only have one FCS loss and are somehow left out of the rankings. Sometimes I hate how the FCS rankings work because I’m my eyes they are the 3rd best CAA team and deserve to be ranked ahead of us. Anyways that’s a topic for next week’s game thread. For now, Go Tribe!

It was Gent Veizi, freshman defensive lineman, who blocked the final kick. Congrats!

Maybe he will earn CAA Special Teams Player of the Week!

JUSTICE! The ending was justice because of how bad we were getting screwed over by the refs. Still, 8 penalties for 82 yards is 7 too many (I'm okay with the excessive celebration penalty at the end).

Good to see that we actually do have a passing game. If Taylor had called those plays against Elon and Towson then we'd be a lot higher ranked.

What's happened to the defense? Given up 34 and 28 points in the last two games (I'm not counting the 27 against UVa). Terrible time for that to happen just when it looks like the offense has re-learned how to score points. We'll need Pius and Lynn to really wreak havoc next week.

Despite the win, I still hate the gray uniforms.

Let's hope Lynn's injury is nothing more than a "stinger" type injury.

RE: Football vs Monmouth
The kicker has a huge leg, but his kicks were low on extra points. That was key to the block. Monmouth gave us underneath all day long and never covered the TE with a DB. McElwain was wide open all day. Refs were horible. The unsportsmanlike on Imoh was a joke and the hit out of bounds was worse. They missed holding all day. From my seat I could see Lynn joking around in the second half and not in pain. It looked like the shoulder injury was more of a strain than a stinger. He aggrevated it when he dove after the QB and landed flat on his stomach. That tells me that it was more of a range of motion issue versus a true injury or something serious. My guess is that he was held out as a precaution. The stats look a lot better if you take away the two long runs by Monmouth. Their RB was really good.

Totally agree on the late hit out of bounds. That call was BS. But at this point we aren't gonna get any reputation calls in our favor.

On their RB, he can ball. Can anyone who was at the game tell me if we were taking bad angles or was he really that fast?

Not sure if all of you are aware, but Monmouth's RB Shirden was the top RB in all of FCS football last season and a finalist for the Walter Peyton award. He was the preseason CAA offensive player of the year. Yes, he's that fast and shifty. Some have argued that he's the top RB in college football. I don't know about that, but he's the best RB our guys have faced and will be playing on Sundays IMO.

Shirden was really fast but also benefited tremendously from great blocking. On the two long runs it was like Moses parting the waters; the holes were just huge. On the first TD we did have one defender who had a good angle and actually caught him and tripped him up …but unfortunately it was right outside the goal line and his momentum still allowed him to fly into the end zone.

RE: Football vs Monmouth
This year we have no margin for error, as it seems refs are quick to toss the yellow flag, sadly we may have earned that scrutiny, but I agree with another poster that it seems holds are often ignored by opponents OL. We are giving other teams too many extra shots. Albany is a passing team, so if our guys are held, or a flag tossed for some "infraction", it will be a long day.

RE: Football vs Monmouth
There are highlights on the CAA sight for all of yesterdays games. I noticed on our game, Jay Colley doing the play-by-play sounded very under the weather. I wasn’t even sure it was him until a few of his phrases came out. Hope he’s mending.
