KSU-- 2023 NCAA Tournament

Liberty-- 2019- NCAA Win, '21- NCAA appearance

JSU----- 2017, 2022 NCAA Tourney appearances

My point is that UTEP, WKU, NMSU, MT, La Tech, Liberty, JSU and even recent add KSU have had success and have tradition.

Does NOT guarantee anything--- BUT is a great foundation to build upon.

Sam Houston was in the NIT last year and would have qualified under the new protocols in ‘24 if they were in place.

Sam Houston under Jason Hooten struggled to get over the NCAA hurdle but has largely dating back to the Bob Marlin era been a squad that wins 20+ games a year.

At least half a dozen conferences have come out with statements on the NIT. An all C-USA final last year that got moved to ESPN2 and was poorly viewed is the entire reason this is happening, yet C-USA is silent.

I guess Judy is too busy getting her jeep ready for today.

Can’t speak for any newbie other than myself, but I’ve never been overly confident in Judy’s competence to be an effective commissioner. In all honesty, I have often questioned the competency of the league presidents for keeping her around for so long. I’ve asked this question before and haven’t really gotten a clear answer, “Why is she still here?”

From the D1 Ticker:

NIT Reactions…

+ MAC Commissioner Jon Steinbrecher: “I am surprised and disappointed in the action announced today by the NIT Board of Managers. To make such a substantive change to the NIT Structure without providing a satisfactory explanation or building the foundations of such a change is troubling and leaves student-athletes, coaches and fans in a state of uncertainty.” (link)

+ Big Sky boss Tom Wistrcill: “My friend, Commissioner Steinbrecher, summarizes my feelings on this very well. Disappointed and concerned in the decision and the timing.” (link)

+ Ivy League Executive Director Robin Harris: “Finding this out 10 days before the start of the college basketball season is surprising and disappointing. There was no opportunity for discussion or feedback. Taking away access for conference champions dilutes the magic of March. This isn’t the way this is supposed to work.” (link)

+ Patriot League Commissioner Jennifer Heppel: “Disappointing decision from NCAA. Denying any conference automatic access to any NCAA sponsored/managed championship is a slippery slope.” (link)

+ College of Charleston AD Matt Roberts: “So instead of celebrating a postseason event that traditionally allows for diversity, inclusion and opportunity consistent with its “values” this group unilaterally decides to minimize the ‘little guys’ in favor of money and mediocrity. I’m embarrassed for our industry today. Not to mention that most of the ‘P6’ schools that are selected to participate either don’t want to be there and/or have players opt out. Why give the advantaged even more of an advantage. Troubling and disappointing.” (link)

+ Cleveland State AD Scott Garrett: “How does this happen with ZERO heads up or shared governance input from impacted constituents? Ridiculous.” (link)

Do you think anyone that wanted to watch that game couldn't fine it because it was moved from espn to espn2? Of course espn has a "built in" higher rating to begin with but my guess is everyone that wanted to watch....watched

So what is Judy going to say? Sorry everyone, it's my fault, no one wanted to watch UNT vs UAB play a basketball game. Personally if your conference is the reason (as you said) for this.....

Judy should let others do the talking and not bring attention to CUSA basketball that no one wanted to watch and the reason for this change (as you stated). Well maybe she can say....at least that is a AAC problem now.

Do you think Aresco the commish
From the AAC would be sitting
Silent if his 2 teams were in the final
Judy does not have a clue.

When they want to make changes to the NCAA tourney it is discussed for years.

It took a dozen years to get to a 12
Team football tourney and they have
A committee with every conference
Represented.

This comes out of nowhere.
Every conference should have a say
In this.

Sure the basketball cartel was mad
Last year in the NIT it was all CUSA
In the final 4 you had FAU and SDSU

It's ok if it's an all ACC final

Why are there not detailed by laws in
Place that your membership gets to
Have discussion and vote on this

Can the non-power D1 conferences do a class-action lawsuit?

Will anyone do a lawsuit at all?

If your that good why do you need special rules to protect you? If your unsuccessful in your neighbor move to a new league to attempt to get your tournament bid.

If you are not good, why do you need special rules to protect you and ensure you still make tournaments? Here are the top three P6 teams that would have made the NIT last year:

Ohio State... 16-19.... NET 52
Texas Tech... 16-16... NET 63
Oklahoma... 15-17... NET 68

I don't want to see teams with losing records in any tourney.
