RE: Football @ UAlbany
We may not have lost a lot of players, but we lost major talent and strong leadership.

My reading of the medical redshirt regs says that Yoder played in too many games to redshirt.

——————
To be eligible for a medical hardship waiver, a student-athlete has to meet the following criteria:

The student-athlete must suffer the injury during one of their four seasons of college competition or during the senior year of high school.

The injury must be incapacitating. That means it must be a season-ending injury.

The injury must occur prior to the start of the second half of the season.

The student-athlete must not have competed in more than 30% of the season or three contests, whichever is greater.

I was referring to just a regular redshirt, not a medical hardship. Last year they changed the rules for a regular redshirt so that a player could play in 4 games. So unless they changed the rules back after just one year then Yoder would be eligible. Not sure why the rule for a hardship waiver specifies 3 years instead of 4.

That's seven out of 22 starters so we didn't return essentially the same team. We didn't only lose starters, we lost locker room leaders. Sometimes that's tough to replace.

Don’t forget Donovan Lester gone too

Making no excuses because we just didn’t play smart or inspired football yesterday - but UAlbany is compiling a nice home record this year. Yesterdays game was the closest contest they have had there to date - previously beating Fordham by 21, Villanova by 21 and URI by 25 - all of these top 30 teams in FCS at some juncture.

Had we punched in the TD late Q3, I agree with a poster here that I think we could have had a chance to pull it out. The drive that led to the goal line was crisp and well executed. We had the momentum after being on our heels the entire 1H. Had we scored there and put the score at 7-17, I think our defense would have turned it up a notch.
