SHSU up AT Pacific by ten with 4m left.

La Tech down-but close late AT Col. St..

UTEP and WKU with easy wins.

MT with impressive win over NKU.

I loved seeing Darrin Horn leave Murphy Center with his team after what must be a tough loss. The final margin doesn't indicate how badly they were dominated in the first half. NKU is the preseason pick of their league. Still one win, but it's nice to see a MT team come out in the first game of the season and have a dominating performance.

Hate to see La Tech give this game away in the second half. I believe they were up 11 with 10 minutes to go.

Yep Tech led most of the game.

SHSU's coach Mudge with an excellent post game interview on ESPN+.

That's a great win.

NMSU played like the team they are. Brand new players, brand new coach, brand new system all against a solid, historical power. Not surprised at the result, but I was hoping they could keep it within 20 points.

Overall not an awful opening for the league. Wish LaTech had been able to hold on to their lead. NMSU losing by 40 instead of 30 was a bit of a let down, but sometimes UK gets or a roll. Was happy with the effort and coaching by the Tops. Hopefully we are able to stay in the thick of things this year.

MT was up 26 with 12:30 remaining in the game.

Norse cut it to 11 with a couple of minutes to go.

Sam gutted one out against a Pacific team picked to finish 8th in the WCC that sits at 228 rpi. Not a great shooting night for the Kats but got it done with tough defense. Going to need a better performance to beat a good Utah Valley squad at home on Thursday.

It was an NAIA school, so take it with a grain of salt, but JSU just beat Brescia by 50, 91-41.

At least we did to them what we should've done to them.

Next up for the Gamecocks, a game against an actual D-I school, Utah Tech, Saturday at 2 p.m.

Don't be surprised and there is no reason to be pissed off when fans from those non-P6 conferences values playing a school from the "P6". So much so the games listed in the OP puts those teams in a different color almost like they are special

Central Florida finished below .500 in the AAC
Oklahoma State finished below .500 in the Big12

Northern Kentucky at least made the NCAA Tourney last season

They are "opportunities" to send a message since the NET rankings values those P6 conference games over the rest of us. So yes, they are important... "special". Sam Houston won at Utah and at Oklahoma last year. They would have qualified for the NIT field even with the recent changes.

Good stuff Pistol. And you were right to highlight the P6 games. It is important to win those. P6 games are important to NMSU for 2 reasons. One, we get paid for them and our coaches can use that money to supplement assistant coach salaries. Second, our head coach gets a bonus for every P6 win. Such is the life of a MM...

IMO--don't agree with highlighting "so-called" P6 teams.

But--it's his post--his choice.

MM stands for:

More Marginal
More Mediocre
More Menial

Not where I want my team.

Hooten gets his first win at NMSU against the mighty Lobos of Sul Ross State, a lot to not enough. Don’t remember the final, but it was something like 83-49.

Aggies do what they were supposed to do. On to UC-Irvine for another road test this weekend.

GO AGGIES!!!

Started to make a thread entitled-- "Tonight's games"--but didn't want to offend anybody by duplicating.

Is this the thread we are supposed to use to talk about all five CUSA games tonight?

ALL on espn+.

FIU, SHSU, WKU, MT, UTEP.

You will not offend me if you want to start another basketball thread specific to what you want to focus on. I just put out a schedule each week to track the progress of the conference.

In fact, I put out my thread hoping not to encroach upon or offend those who have frequented this CUSA board much longer than I.

Thanks Pete, I'll just post here for now--but may start separate threads when Conference games or some "special" game occurs.
