You still don't understand it seems. It absolutely does measure the strength of schedule and does factor the "really good teams." Keep pretending it doesn't, though.
For the record, my comment referencing SOS was a direct response to you accusing another poster of being a liar. I was making a comparison. I suppose that's yet another concept you find to be elusive?

Good lord
They finished near the bottom just above Shenandoah who are just above Eastern Mennonite. 10th place out of 14. Sure, he made an honest mistake stating they finished above Eastern Mennonite, but why call him out as a liar when otherwise, he was absolutely correct? Now do you understand the comparison I was making?

LOL that we are having any kind of argument about that scrub team ECU goofed around with but still beat by 30. Good luck to them in the IDGAF conference.

I see great offense has been taken when I said that Ferrum had finished one spot ahead of the Mennonites when in fact they finished two spots ahead. Ferrum did finish one spot behind the Amish.

We tried out several combinations of players, nobody got injured, and hopefully built some chemistry.
The schedule gets progressively more difficult. Hopefully these first 3 games will prepare us for A&M and the Fort Myers Tournament.
Wed Nov 8 - Western Illinois
Thu Nov 9 - Lamar
Tue Nov 14 - Texas A&M #15
Mon Nov 20 - West Virginia - Tournament
Wed Nov 22 - Virginia or Wisconsin - Tournament
The game sounds perfect for an exhibition. Why did SMU make it a regular season game?
I am not a spokesperson, but these are my assumptions/possibilities:
- Helps SAGU playing in front of player parents, exposure in Dallas for recruiting, some $$$, maybe coaching relationship?
- NAIA games do not count in NET or factor in tournament selection - Correct me if I am wrong.
- A "shake down" game that is "real" not exhibition or secret scrimmage, with no downside
- A first game for fans that SHOULD be a win, and a chance to build excitement for the next 3 games leading to A&M
- We had at least one scrimmage with Kansas State, maybe there was another and so by rule this was a game? Unless the rule has changed again it was 2 scrimmages or exhibitions were allowed.
- They played 3 games in Spain - not sure if that would limit their scrimmage/exhibition games allowed.
- I am rambling and cannot find an official response. So maybe someone closer to the program might know the answer.
In his press conference, Coach said we played two scrimmages. So there is the answer. I assume the rule is still there - 2 games - either scrimmages or exhibition per season.

Wasn't there something about Vanderbilt not being dregs earlier?
They lost to Presbyterian today.

They certainly aren't starting the season off on a good footing. We need them to step it up and win some games before they come to Memphis.

The FAU/Loyola game Wednesday night is not being played at Loyola’s usual home court, which is Gentile Arena and seats <5,000. Instead the game will be about 11 miles away at Wintrust Arena, which is DePaul’s home court and seats about 10,000. I am listing this as a neutral court matchup but willing to reconsider.

Technically neutral, but likely not in practice.

Thanks for the explanation. I think it is a throw away game, but what counts is the opinions of SMU fans, coaches and players.

They lost to Presbyterian today.
Michigan St (#4) lost to James Madison. Therefore, Michigan St is also among the dregs. Alternatively, it is possible upsets occur and does not necessarily fate a bad season at this point of the season.

We first need a poll to determine if everyone is in agreement that a poll should be created to determine neutral status.

I second this amended proposal, all those in favor?

JMU is a pretty good team. Presbyterian is one of the worst athletic programs in the country. They wouldn’t be a good program in D2.

It is a matter of magnitude. Just as Vandy should handle Presbyterian but failed, so too should the 4th best team in the country handle JMU but failed.
I am not defending Vandy, but point out upsets occur and it does not always mean the team suffering the upset is the "dregs".
