At least that is what I've heard...

Which bowl game, Armed Forces? Isn't First Responders in a local metroplex?

I hope JT doesn't play. It's time for him to move on. I want Padgett at the reigns. He's our future.

I 100% disagree with every word you've written. We could lose to anybody, but with JT our odds of success increase dramatically.

I don't care. Daniels is on his way out. Give the start to Padgett. He delivered in the last two games. He's the future of the program. He deserves it. I wouldn't be surprised to see Daniels sit this one out anyway, to protect himself for the draft.

It's a question of what's more important--winning a basically meaningless bowl game or being slightly better prepared for 2024. I'd opt on the side of preparation for next year, but arguments can be made both ways.

ESPN is missing out on this.
People would watch - they watch car and train wrecks.
Ignore the usual 6-win requirement.
A place in the American Standard Toilet Bowl would be offered to the two teams with the worst records (0-11 or 12) and worst rankings.
It might even be competitive.

Would a team accept a place?
Who knows?
It would offer them the chance to continue practicing, outside of the regular season.

Unfortunately I agree with the bolded part. However, I don't see JT getting drafted due to the wear and tear his prior injuries have done to his mobility. Mobility has become maybe the most important asset for a quarterback in an NFL player development person's mind.

It may be meaningless to you, but I doubt it is to the players. If you carry that logic thru, why limit it to JT. Sit all of the seniors.

Why stop there. Do the games become meaningless during the season when you can no longer win the conference? If so, with this logic, I guess you should sit seniors then to develop future talent.

There are no "0-fer" teams this year - which I find fascinating by itself.

Since ESPN wouldn't have to wait for the conference championship games this weekend to offer invitations to the Toilet Bowl, the current candidates would be...
Kent State, who won only one game this year (vs Duke, and Duke is 7-5).
Vanderbilt, who won two games (Hawaii (who beat NMSU), Alabama A&M)
Louisiana Monroe, who won two games (Army, Lamar)
Akron, who won two games (Morgan State, Kent State)
East Carolina, who won two games (Gardner-Webb, FAU)

Should they offer to both Kent State and Akron, since they already played each other?

How does Southern Miss qualify at 3-9 or UL-Monroe qualify at 2-10?

I believe they had the most teams qualified but not all. Southern Miss and ULM are the only ones who didn't reach 6

D'oh!
I failed to scroll down and see the West half of the conference.
I thought that looked like a small conference...
My bad...

BTW, I was looking at Sports Illustrated's college football standings.

They don't, and not even Julie could get them there.
I missed the West half of the Sunbelt when I failed to scroll all the way down on SI's standings page.
You are correct that neither team is remotely qualified.

The MOB has heard from someone somehow that the Hawaii Bowl has already selected two teams that are not Rice.

That means that we'll likely get to go (Yay!)
Hawaii was the one place out of the 40-something that we knew we wouldn't be able to go.

Agree. It's not like we'd be conceding defeat by starting Padgett. He's a capable quarterback that needs experience. Start him. Daniels is yesterday's news.
