I would have to say Auburn's ghost defense on Alabama's Hail Mary. It was so strange watching it happen live. I have watched the replay a few times as well and even though I know what happens on the play, I am always stunned by what happens on the play.

ND's 10 man defense is the kind of thing that happens time to time. There it happened on a huge stage after a time out, but it is on some level more explainable (one correctable communication mistake) than whatever the hell Auburn's players and coaches were thinking.

The Miami fumble on an off-tackle run instead of running Victory O was tough guy b.s. from a fake tough guy coach of a fake tough guy program. Definitely hilarious, but pretty in character for a fake tough guy program like Miami. A wild play for sure, and a play even more rare than what Notre Dame did, but still, it can be explained away kinda easily as just a coach who thinks he is coaching 2001 Miami when he is really coaching 2023 Miami.

Auburn.

I might could forgive a 2-man rush if the other 9 all covered... but one guy spied the QB run!!!

Freeze's coaching blunder was turrible but Bama had the ball and executed the final play. Auburn could've rushed four and the QB still had the opportunity to throw it for the win. On the flip, Cristobal HAD POSSESSION with the lead and didn't execute the victory formation sealing the win. That took the blunder cake this season IMO. Look at all the memes it generated LOL.

I believe the Mel Tucker mess reached a climax last fall, actually, it just took them a long time (and a lot more losses) to finish the investigation.

Boise State's 2 QB system. If they never had that? They might only have 1 loss instead of where they are at

Off field that climaxed this year:

Texas A&M: Firing Jimbo Fisher who is departing with $$$$$$$$s’ galore. Had to happen.

His last couple of years at FSU should have been a clue to deep pockets Texas A&M not to make such a long, obscene contract.

The Mel Tucker mess at Michigan State was another example of an administrative and booster farce at a public, P2 university.

Short-Bus Gus had a number of them this year. Losing after blowing a 35-7 lead with 18 minutes left in the game can't be overstated.

RE: Biggest coaching blunder this year?
1) Miami ... kneel.

IMO this is the worst mistake possible, a situation where all you have to do is kneel to win and you don't do it. Worse even then doing it and fumbling, because at least you had the right idea.

2) ND ... 10 men. Incomprehensible.

IMO, Auburn didn't play bad defense on the Alabama play and IMO the coverage was sound. The defender had the receiver covered pretty well, the ball was just perfectly thrown and the WR made an excellent catch.
