I have a good friend who is a physics professor at CBU in Memphis. He just barely missed having his department cut and losing his job very recently. He says it's like that all over. He complains all the time about the constraints he's under when it comes to grading his students. He tells me stupid student stories all the time. He is fully convinced we are doomed. After hearing some of the stories I agree.

Given our propensity for screwing things up I wouldn't be surprised that after the collapse that we'd screw it all up again and worse.
