Most of the MAAC dropped out between 2003 and 2008. Only one Big East school has dropped football (St. John's) since 1981.

As for Presbyterian, there are a total of 430 men enrolled... and 134 play football.

Like Stetson football is not a big draw, but it enrolls 100 men in the university. Stetson currently has 1,000 males (https://www.stetson.edu/administration/i...orts.php), so football players are about 10% of their male enrollment. I doubt they would drop that program.

With the enrollment cliff coming up, I think the schools most likely to drop football are just the schools that are likely to close altogether.

The program was restarted about a decade ago for that reason. Also, they play at a HS field (that was used as Bobby Boucher's home stadium in The Waterboy)

NE school? Any candidates or just picking a region? Delaware is going FBS and into CUSA. Other than some ACC or AAC schools, that leaves UMass.

If not Presbyterian, Marist or an NEC school. Guessing which one is like playing Russian roulette.

I would add Morehead State to this. State school in rural Kentucky playing non-scholarship football. Can't be long for this world, especially since we've established that OVC football isn't a requirement.

The contenders IMO:
Portland State
Stetson
Presbyterian
Marist
Wagner

I think both Portland State and Eastern Washington would be booted from the Big Sky if they drop football.

I don't think they would. With Cal Poly and UC-Davis the Conference would still have 10 schools so plenty for Football.

I agree. We've been seeing more schools add it then drop it.

NYC had quite a little football collective 20+ years ago with St. John's, Wagner (listed them early or I'd forget), Fordham, Iona, Hofstra, Post, St. Peter's (NJ), Stony Brook, Merchant Marine, plus Army, Columbia, Princeton, and Rutgers

Side note: Manhattan had a club team into the 80's.

If Eastern Washington and Portland State do drop football, the Big Sky would bring up Central Washington and Western Oregon from D2.
