From the article:
Quote:He picked Syracuse over offers from Boston College, Colorado, Illinois, Maryland, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, Rutgers, South Carolina, Texas A&M, USC, Virginia Tech and West Virginia, among others.

"I would definitely say it's the fans," Strange said. "They take that Syracuse football serious. A coach told me it's only basketball and football there. They go crazy. I was in the gas station with my mom. They stopped me, they wanted a picture. That's something I've never even been through before. I never thought I even mattered that much. But the fans go crazy."

My experience has been that Syracuse football are long-suffering, but serious about football.

RE: Syracuse Is Starting To Build Something
I know this is way too early but SU's 2026 recruiting class so far is ranked #3 in the nation with all 3 recruits at least 4 stars, with one at 5 stars.
Fran Brown didnt get started with recruiting for the 2024 class until December 2023 and still ended up with a ranking of #38 in the 2024 cycle.
So far in the 2025 cycle SU is ranked in the top 10. The 2024 and especially the 2025 class is made up of mostly northeast recruits from NY, PA, NJ with a smidgen of Mass and Maryland

Lots of buzz in Upstate NY. Havent seen this much excitement since the late 90's and early 2000's surrounding the program. Coach Brown is a great recruiter. I just hope he can coach. He has surrounded himself with a lot of proven assistants, so theres that.

But if anyone is doubting SU's commitment to the game of fb, Dont. The CUSE has lots of NIL money and its showing. If Coach Fran can end up with at least 9 wins his first season, which is not out of the question, I think he will start pulling in some top 20 recruiting classes. SU is missing Clemson and FSU off the schedule this season, so if the guy can coach even a little, SU should reach 8 wins in the regular season.

SU class of 2026 is taking shape

Another kid who left for NIL$$$ might be looking to return to Cuse. Jihad Carter...made honorable all ACC as a sophomore but lost out to a 5 star kid at tOSU.

The funny thing is he might not start at Cuse either.

Our defense looks to be top 3-4 in the ACC.

I've said this before (maybe even in this thread) but a strong Syracuse in football and basketball would be good for the entire conference.

We don't play the Cuse next year (except in the conference championship, of course 04-cheers) or the year after.

In 2026, 2028 and 2030 we go to Cuse ....
In 2027, and 2029 we host Cuse ....

... Assuming of course the schedule holds up that long.

If Cuse develops into a perennial Top 25 team...the downstate bandwagon fans will start watching again.

Cuse has a large casual fanbase but a smaller hardcore base. #NE Sports Fan Mentality
