1-AA/FCS Heisman candidates
I just saw the documentary (30 for 30) on the 1997 Heisman race. Was half over before I realized Marshall was FBS by then. Since, 1978, who FCS players got invited to NYC? I know Lockbaum did.

Steve McNair as well!

It's a shame Lockbaum's 1987 Holy Cross team didn't get the opportunity to compete for the national title.

I think Carson Wetnz of North Dakota State almost went to NYC for the award.

I know he was D3, but did Joe Dudek go to the DAC?

This was their first year back in D1-A. Randy Moss was a beast.

University of Chicago is the only D3 school won the very first Heisman when they where part of Big 10. Only Yale with 2 and Princeton with 1 winners were the FCS schools in the older days. I think you have to go way back for those teams.
