RE: 2024 Football Schedule
In the 100+ years of Rice Football history, can anyone remember an easier schedule than this one? Combined with all the returning starters, this should easily be 8+ win team next year.

There are still a lot of questions that need answering:
Fundamental Concerns
Who is the QB and can he play at or near the level of JT?
Who is he throwing the ball to now that McCaffery is gone?
Who is protecting the QB?
Who is the corner back opposite Sean Fresch?
Have we addressed Special teams?

Ah, just found this on the USF site.
the Bulls' final AAC date of the season will be a television network selection to be played at Rice on either Friday, Nov. 29, or Saturday, Nov. 30. The final date will be announced no later than Oct. 14.

I remember a couple…
In 1927 we played a five game OOC against:
Loyola
Sam Houston State**
St Edwards
Southwestern
Centenary.
1-3 in conference and 1-3-1 OOC was not a great year for the Rice Owls.

Then if you remember 1918 (WWI) we opened with two games against Camp Logan, two against Ream Field and one VS Kelly Field (0-4-1) before wrapping with Texas (L) and SMU (W!)

But yeah it has been a minute.

Last season.

It’s an unattractive schedule. It’s soft for most schools, but I only see 3 or 4 certain wins. Only winning six is most likely.

Warner and the OL are the key.

Looking forward to having two Rice games in my "backyard" in 2024.

This looks amazing. Will definitely look this up if we stay in the City.

Ok not quite that old to remember those seasons.

Only old enough to remember my first Rice game, the 1982 home opener, a 21-14 loss to Southwestern Louisiana.

12 1/2 months later I remember my first Rice win, a 22-21 win against the Cajuns in the rematch, breaking what at the time was the nation’s longest active losing streak (0-15).

Those two games, plus one against Tulane, were the only three we played in those two years against schools not currently in power conferences.

Rice seems to have made a couple of good hires on the back office side of things. I'm ready from some good hires where the rubber meets the road, on the coaching side.

This sounds great and he’s got outstanding qualifications.
I didn’t know we had a “general manager” for football. A few assistant ADs, etc, but I don’t recall a general manager. Is this a newly created position? A consolidation of some assistant AD tasks?

It can only get better. Honestly. Basketball is at one of its lowest points. Football can’t get any more frustrating. Baseball is in for a four-year rebuild. The stadium renovation is three decades late. We’re overdue a positive trend.

That sounds like a very big hire. It looks like having a GM for football is going to be a trend nationwide. More than anything, it sounds like he’ll be overseeing recruiting, like a glorified recruiting coordinator. That’s how it sounds anyway.
