SBC has turned into what most knowledgable people thought it was. An average G5 conference. The top teams were average and the bottom was average. At years end it became apparent the average was lower vs other G5s than the SBC had boasted all season.

Checking the latest Massey Composite the difference between the Sun Belt and CUSA is about the same as the Sun Belt and Big Ten.

Umm, care to share the math on that?? Nobody can question that the SBC is ranked higher in Massey than C-USA. But I see the Sun Belt at a composite 6.95 rating. C-USA is 6.65 (difference of -0.30 vs SBC) and Big Ten is 7.81 (+0.86 vs the SBC).

How is 0.86 about the same as 0.30--wouldn't that be almost three times the difference, mathematically speaking?

This may be the dumbest thread y’all have ever started. Trying to equate Bowl Season results with Regular season results is just Football ignorance.

Between kids opting out of bowls, the transfer portal, departing Coaches, and in some cases a 30 day or more layoff between the last regular season game and the bowl, to expect peak performance from all teams come bowl season is just folly.

I wish that was the case, I wish regular season mattered more because we have perform better in the regular season.

But it doesn’t and it never will. Post season will always matter more than the regular season.

More exposure, National audience. I remember Houston beating Florida State, UCF beating Auburn. Boise State beating Oklahoma with the statue of Liberty play.

I willalways remember this year’s NO Bowl.

Could I tell you who won the regular season for any conference for any year? Heck no because it doesn’t matter

I get it, I would probably rationalize and make excuses too if we played in a conference that never played on the big stage their entire 20+ years of existence. Then see another “inferior conference” that has 4 brand new members pass you by in it’s first year.
I would make excuses too but deep down I would know the truth.

If SBC posters don't care for the opinions posted here...well--just stay home. At the same time I am critical of CUSA posters who travel to other boards just to get things stirred up.

Trojan is a good poster but his team is winning so need to try to create a false narrative.

Dont post on the SBC board much and best of my memory has been a good while. My not believing the hype would not sell well with their posters so just dont care to screw up their board. Do read fairly often as its entertaining to read the Kool Aid drinkers. They have repeated their selfs so much they had most believing until bowl season. Then the traditional good teams looked in the mirror and saw what the SBC really is, an average G5 conference.

If bowl season has shown us anything is CUSA has the best G5 conference because Liberty got the NY6 bid. Other than that not much to separate the leagues. Wasnt much separating Liberty from some others but they won out in the end.

Here's the important factor and overrides the season....

SBC top schools got ran over in bowls by schools that were clearly on a downhill slope.

Air Force had loss 4 straight games including to Army and Hawaii and they controlled JMU from start to finish

Troy was controlled from start to finish by a Duke team that had loss4 of last 6 and playing without their starting qb and like Troy their coach

We are talking about the 4th place MWC school and the 7th place AAC school which was not even a good conference this this. Along with the other awful showings it points to SBC....

teams #3/14 as beating up on each other and a conference full of below to barely average teams. The top beat up on those below to average teams.

Those are the facts that bowl season showed. That all the experience and head coaches entering the season gave SBC a advantage early but showed that lack of growth

This is a true statement. And I expect both fan groups to support their own conference. But I don’t think it means both conference fan bases must be derogatory toward the other.

Sunbelt had a good regular season and a disappointing post season. That’s the bottom line.

CUSA had a nice rebound season from the brink of extinction and a team that excelled enough to earn the NY6 bowl. That is the truth.
