ESPN & Fox Cooperate on Spring Football
Quote:The merged XFL-USFL spring football league will be known as the UFL -- the United Football League -- its partners confirmed Sunday. ...

A news release listed five UFL "partners": the three XFL owners -- Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson (UM), Dany Garcia (UM) and Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital Partners -- USFL owner Fox Sports (represented by CEO Eric Shanks) and ESPN (represented by chairman Jimmy Pitaro). Disney/ESPN was the exclusive broadcast partner of the 2023 XFL season.

That's cool. Is Bob Stoops still involved with the USFL Texas team?

Seems like 3 teams in Texas is overkill and no teams in Florida, California, and New York ? Iā€™d jump to 12 with LA, New York, Orlando and Canton. Also, Texas sure loves to keep old stadiums, why is the Astro dome and former rangers park not demolished?

Not surprising. The one thing both parties can agree on is screwing the little guys...

I'm surprised those leagues are still playing. I know I couldn't name a single team without a cheat sheet, and probably wouldn't recognize a single player either. I wonder how much tickets cost, and how many of the people in attendance actually paid for their tickets.

What day(s) are games played on? I can't imagine their ratings are very good.

RE: ESPN & Fox Cooperate on Spring Football
Quote:Three of the biggest sports TV companies in the U.S. are creating a joint streaming venture with all of their linear sports TV content, the firms announced Tuesday.

Why it matters: The new service is intended to reach sports fans ditching pricey cable bundles.

Each company ā€” ESPN, Fox and Warner Bros. Discovery ā€” will each own one-third of the venture, and they'll need to select a management team, branding and pricing.

The new service is expected to launch later this year and be available through a new app, built by a team that will be separate from the management leaders at the three companies.
