his highlights are from 2022.

I believe he decided to RS after 4 games this year. Appears he didn't want to lose a year of eligibility with limited PT.

RE: Transfer Portal Giveth: 2024 Dukes Edition
George is the highest rated player based on his HS ratings who has ever committed to JMU, as a transfer or otherwise. Having watched him in HS and followed his time at UNC, I’m dumbfounded we got him. While playing in VISAA DII, he was the best player by far every time he stepped foot on the field regardless of the opponent, including higher divisions and public schools. He had his pick of P5 programs out of HS and, as recently as 2 weeks ago, was being rumored for USC, Arkansas, or VT. George comes from a great family and is a very nice young man. He enrolled at UNC as part of a class that included 3 other top 100 RB recruits and he flashed early his Freshman year before they converted him to KR. They redshirted him this past season to let some of the upperclassmen clear out. I didn’t expect him to enter the portal and was surprised when he did. I’m in shock that he’s going to be a JMU Duke. This is a HUGE pickup that cannot be underplayed. If he stays healthy and finishes at JMU, he will go to the NFL as a draft pick.

*Multiple players aren't listed by above tracking services. Twitter is being used to fill the gaps. I've also included a link to the JMU Sports News guys's tracker. They do a pretty good job following targets/commitments.

Offense
QB - Dylan Morris - Washington
RB - Tyler Purdy - Holy Cross
RB - Ayo Adeyi - North Texas
RB - George Pettaway - North Carolina
OL - Patrick McMurtie - Holy Cross
OL - Jesse Ramil - St Francis
OL - Hunter Mclain - Virginia Tech
WR- Nakai Poole - Mississippi State

Defense
DL - Terry Lockett - Syracuse
DL - Eric Oneill - Long Island
LB - Jacob Dobbs - Holy Cross

Special Teams
LS - Logan Ketcham - Laney College

I will update this OP as new information comes in.
We’re barely a month into the HCBC era and only a couple weeks for 1/2 his staff, but it’s safe to say they haven’t been sitting around relaxing over the holidays and might know how to recruit after all. Easier to connect dots on guys that might be from the area or have previous ties to you and/or your staff has longevity with the program, but to get a QB from the opposite coast that started at a top flight program, is playing for a national title and committed while never stepping foot on campus is no small task. Or a RB/WR recruit that not long ago were highly sought after recruits and didn’t flame out, have checkered pasts or are on school #4 is equally impressive. This roster is really starting to take shape after all and I’m guessing we’ll be seeing a much more balanced offensive attack. 04-cheers

Really impressed by the portal adds so far. Proven production for most, and some young/highly touted too.

The addition of the North Texas and UNC running backs could end up being better than if Black and Lawton had stayed. I have a good feeling that will end up being true.

I love the 7 yards per carry. Big play potential there,.

Still think we need to add another RB, but some holes have been filled.

Would love to see another DL, WR and RB. After that a LB and S.

We good on RB now.

Biggest priority now IMO is D Line.
We have a solid group of 4-5 guys who have been in the trenches on gameday's, but the rest are unproven. Would be good to get 1, maybe even 2, more big'uns for the DLine.

we do that, and Dylan is as good as his clippings, we may be right back where we were last year....class of the Belt and Top 25 candidates again.

Love the two backs we got. Think we’ve upgraded there

Definitely. Black didn’t stay healthy and we all thought Lawton was done eligibility-wise, so it’s certainly an upgrade with the 3 RB additions.

It's proof that if you don't want to play football at JMU there are other football studs lined up who want to play here. JMU will be fine.

Right? Lots of us say "it's a program, not a person (or 10)..."

The calls on X and SBC board of implosion likely prove to be hilarious

“The portal is evil. It’s ruining college football”.

I, for one, am very thankful for our evil overlord.

Wonder if Chesney has another portal WR or two up his sleeve. Feeling really good about OL and RB after this past year. DL depth is looking better, especially with some really good ‘22 recruits with good size waiting in the wings.

This D3, D2, FCS coach is doing a pretty darn good job early on for a guy who was supposed to drown at this level.

Appears that UNC wanted to move him to WR. Numbers game. He redshirted. They have too many RBs.

Talk by Mack Brown of having Pettiway playing in the slot at NC.

Apparently did not finish the year at USF. Be curious to see what happened there, but trust Chesney to evaluate talent/character.

On the other hand, he spent 4 years at Florida with minimal playing time. So may just have been a bad fit at usf.
