WBB vs USF
RICE with the big win 67-64!

After a late miss, USF had one last possession to tie.

They got two attempts at it after the offensive rebound, but their leading scorer (Vittoria Brasleigh) missed both attempts!

She had been on fire with 45% from 3 before those last two misses. Brasleigh was the game’s leading scorer with 26.
Fisher (23) and Ennis (16) led the way for our home standing Owls

Fisher had 10 straight points down the stretch. Arguably a career-best day: 23 points (7-15 FG, 8-8 FTs), 13 rebounds (5 offensive), 2 blocks, 2 steals and only 2 TOs.

Edmonds finally adjusted her substitutions as Gooden, Klaczek and Maya all saw more minutes while Adams' minutes were dramatically reduced.

Does anyone know why Jazzy only played 8 minutes vs. her customary 20 - 30? Did she get hurt early?

RE: WBB vs USF
It was a career high in points so yes, I’d say it was a career game for Fisher.

Jazzy is fine, we just went with the hot lineup in the second half. Pretty much small lineup with Maya instead of a big girl, and then Fisher and three guards (Klacsek sp? for Gooden the whole fourth quarter). USF really doesn’t play big so it was a good move.

Really fun game. We showed today that we can hang with anyone in the conference when we can make some shots.

And before Texasowl asks again, Sussy is finally off her crutches. She’s been cleared to start practice again, but I’d really not expect much from her at this point.

She has only played one game this year. Their freshman guard from Italy is really good though. Those are the two teams to beat next year.

Nice to see our two incoming recruits behind the Rice bench for this game. They are both going to be impact players in 2024-25.

Wow. Fantastic win. I just couldnt watch it after the frustrating loss to Charlotte. I have to watch it On Demand now. Sounded like Coach Edmonds made some great moves to the lineup.

It should also be noted that Edmonds make another important adjustment-- rather than our usual reliance on the 3-point shot, we made a conscience effort to work the ball into Fisher in the post...and she delivered repeatedly.

Rice came in to the fourth quarter down by 4…

In a one-minute stretch it was literally raining threes as Rice/USF/Rice all connected from downtown as Rice closed the gap. Rice was 46% from three, and the Bulls were 47% until their last two misses on the final possession

We were also money (19/22) from FT. Bulls only missed one FT (11/12)

UTSA upsets Charlotte in double overtime over in San Antonio, so no unbeatens left in the conference on the women’s side.

Sorry meant to say compared to last year.
