The best team that JJ coached (for ODU) was the 2018 team that did not play MTSU in the conference tournament.

IMO. The team with Freeman and Ross and Bacote and Arledge was JJs best team. Judging by actually watching the games and not statistical efficiency ratings. They went to the NIT final four and reached top 25. That team didn’t score a basket for the first 10 mins against MTSU in conf tournament. But ok, the 2018 team was pretty good as well. That team won a total of 0 big games. Analytics loved them because they beat the crap out of all the bad teams but couldn’t beat WKU or MTSU. O-5 against those two teams who were good but couldn’t even beat them at home. Same old story. His best teams could not win big games. If you want to chalk that up to bad luck then go right ahead. He’s by far had the least successful tenure as ODUs head coach and I don’t need to back it up with stats. His teams stink on neutral courts and fold in the biggest moments. Its been 5 years since they played a big game so all we can go on in recent history are conf tournament appearances since the regular season has been rendered useless at this point.
