Rice 32, Tulane 21 at the half.

Hope the 3Q here goes better than the men’s game…

Why the heck is Samb playing the lions share of the minutes (14 of 20), when she's contributing absolutely nothing. 0 point, 1 rebound, 1 assist, 1 TO. A real headscratcher, especially after Haye's career game on Wednesday.

Refs are letting the teams play, but getting a bit carried away with it. Only 6 fouls called the entire first half (both teams combined) and not a single free throw yet.

43-30 @ 1:54 Owls have gone ice cold the past several minutes. 7-2 run by Tulane.

50-35 after 3Q. Rice ended quarter with a couple Fisher FTs and a Maya 3 to push the lead back up. Not the balance attack of last week's games. Almost all the scoring has come from Fisher, Ennis and Jackson.

50-42 @ 7:37 Tulane on 7-0 run to start the quarter. 03-banghead 4 TOs by Rice in the first 2.30 didn't help.

This team can play stifling defense at times. If we can win at Tulsa Wednesday, I think we can go on a decent win streak.

We were lucky the post players were not needed but Tulane was stacking the middle and it opened up the 3s.

I’m just noticing Jazzy didn’t play and Coach Edmonds postgame quotes indicated we were down a player. So perhaps she is nursing some sort of injury after all.

I wonder if Samb contributes on defense, in a manner that does not show up in stats, which are mostly offensive stats.

No blocks and only 2 boards in 26 minutes. That's pretty poor for a post defender.

I was wondering if her presence led players to alter their attacks or change their game plan. There has to be some reason the coach played her so much without offensive contributions.

Could have just been a desire to see how she responded to a significant increase in playing time. Her somewhat meager +/- in 26 minutes of a game in which we dominated for much of the time doesn't appear to reflect superb defense. But, as you say, who knows. It was just puzzling.
