I will admit, turning on the game and seeing a lineup including all of Adams, Clifton, and Gooden was not expected. Not sure how Edmonds expects this group to score.

Good response. If we end the quarter within 10 I think you have to be happy.

That's a frustrating end to the quarter. Seems like things were clicking on offense, but then a rough stretch by Gooden and an offensive foul by Ennis lets Tulsa stretch the lead back to 12. We're approaching disaster territory. Jackson, Ennis, and Klaczak all have 2 fouls after a quarter. Gooden played 10 minutes and looks exhausted. Hayes has only played 2 minutes for whatever reason.

Almost: 10-22.

After the timeout at 2-14, the Owls upped their defensive intensity significantly ... and with good effect. But on offense, they still missed all their shots ... until 3:15, which started a 7-0 run, including an Ennis 3 from Joplin! Then the misses started again. Clifton had a nice block.

Jackson & Ennis both have 2 fouls, and the Owls missed three open (but contested) layups during the quarter.

Man this is a terrible performance in most aspects. Disjointed offensively, not doing anything right defensively. Gotta turn things around fast.

28-15 Tulsa at the U5 and we're probably fortunate it's that close. Clifton playing 10 minutes is a problem. She's had a few good defensive possessions and made a good pass to find Bokunewicz for a 3, but we look worse on both ends when she's in the game. Has no confidence shooting the ball right now. Bokunewicz also being forced into a role she doesn't look comfortable with, trying to create offense. We're much more effective when she's mostly spotting up.

There's a good possession from Clifton. Offensive rebound to keep the play alive, offensive rebound again, and layup with the foul.

And then another offensive rebound and pass out to Klaczek for 3. Gooden, on the other hand, is still struggling. Just lost Tulsa's 18 ppg scorer early in the shot clock.

Rice cuts the lead and then Tulsa extends it to 18 in a flash. One of the worst performances of the year exacerbated by coaching I don't understand. Ennis hasn't played basically the entire 2nd quarter....even though she played the entire first quarter with two fouls. Why would you bench your best scorer for an entire quarter? And why has Hayes played 2 minutes? I've been trying to figure out what Samb brings that Hayes doesn't and I'm not seeing it. Hayes is a better scorer and Samb doesn't defend or rebound as well as you'd like for her height. It's confusing.

Women have trimmed the lead down to 11. Jackson and Ennis with 9 combined in the 3rd quarter. Clifton with a 3 which is big with how her shot has looked. Basically just have to make it a game in the 4th.

Now only a 6-point Tulsa lead, still in the 3Q. Keep chipping away,

With 4 fouls, Ennis comes back in and immediately sinks a 3, to make it 52-55.

DJ's 15th 2nd-half points trimmed the Tulsa lead to 2, 61-63, with 3:06 left. Tulsa timeout.

Somehow the game is tied. Klaczek has been awesome. Playing with a ton of confidence.

65-70 final after tying the game at 63 and 65 all. Great comeback falls short not without a little (yes, I'm being sarcastic) help from the refs (22 Rice fouls vs. 10 Tulsa fouls). Playing on the road...without Fisher and Jazzy...against a team that has lost just one game at home all season. Pretty impressive effort. Having said all that, why the heck did Hayes play just 2 minutes, especially with Fisher out? And given that she was the one player with the hot hand, why did Klaczek not take a shot the final 8 minutes of the game. DJ is a clutch player, but she's out point guard; not our shooting guard. Yet, down the stretch she went almost exclusively one on one and isolation, never looking to pass the ball. Sorry, but one assist in 31 minutes from our point guard just doesn't cut it.

Anyone know the seriousness of Jazzy and Malia's injuries. Hard to believe we were able to compete with Tulsa on the road even without them.

I don’t know the deal with Jazzy. I know Malia has been dealing with some foot pain that flares up on occasion. She missed the TSU and PVAM games for that reason at least. But in both cases, she was able to play after missing the one game. Hopefully that is the case again.
