2024 ACCCG ratings
With the additions of 2 huge, new states and the death of one of the P5 conferences, could we expect a massive viewership increase?

Interesting question. Looking forward to finding out next December!

RE: 2024 ACCCG ratings
IMO - the two state expansion itself won’t greatly help ratings for the CCG. This latest ACC CCG had 7M viewers, so there is already solid interest from national CFB fans. What helps ratings will be whether the game is meaningful/exciting, as well as the competition for viewers.
Expansion to a 12-team CFP should help the ACC-CCG because the “second” team in the game will frequently be in a win-or-go-home predicament…this will add media and gambling interest. For example, Louisville would have made the CFP with a win or a close loss (#3 FSU was effectively guaranteed a spot in a 12-team CFP, regardless of the outcome).
If the B1G changes its CCG venue to the Rose Bowl/Pasadena, then that would also likely help the ACC CCG. Currently, the ACC and B1G are competing for viewers because their CCG games are in the same time slot. Games in Pasadena would likely be played in the afternoon media window…forcing a direct competition with the SEC.

Even if we assume FSU was guaranteed a spot, they still would've been playing for a BYE. Top conference champs get a 1st-round bye, at-large teams (and #5 champ) do not.
Something else that should really help: no more divisions. That virtually guarantees two ranked teams in the ACC CG -- something the league has lacked over the years.

Would there be more exposure if someone (either Big12 or ACC) moved to the Friday night slot. Then spread the other 3 out on Saturday.

One might start with keeping your back up QB healthy in a worthless body bag game in the second to last week of the season. Of course when you are obsessed with the SEC, you have to schedule the body bag to the detriment of the conference.

Friday night was the Pac 12 CCG time slot. They had to do that because they couldn't compete with the other 4 P5 CCGs in any other Saturday time slot.
The ACC doesn't have that problem.

That wasn't very nice. Should NC State drop the UNC game so they can be healthy for the post season? Hey, maybe the Wolfpack would win a bowl game against a P5 team! For that matter, maybe the Tar Heels would win one!

The best thing for CCG ratings is scrapping divisions. Check.

Winning the rivalry game vs UM, Clem and UF is more important than winning the ACCCG. That's not meant to be a disrespect to UL or the ACCCG, but if I had to get a loss from one of these 4 games it would be to UL and I believe it could have helped their branding tremendously if they would have won.

If that happens this Fall, the other ACC teams should immediately give Cal and SMU their shares back!
(and be very, very ashamed)
