Down 9 after 1 Q. Malia and Klaczek both playing. Too many turnovers and missed layups.

Nice 10-0 run by Rice to tie the game at 22. Jazzy with a big spark off the bench.

After one game where she actually played point guard, DJ back to 1-on-1 play. She's taking 6 more shots than anyone else (4-12) and has missed 5 layups already on wild drives to the basket.

USF’s defensive game plan has limited Ennis to 1 shot attempt.

Fortunately, Jazzy has stepped up. 3-3 from deep so far. Has kept us in the game. Passing non-existent.

45 - 42 @ 1:22 2Q. We're getting badly outrebounded, and have already allowed 12 offensive boards. This quarter USF getting second chance opportunities on almost every possession. USF's center has 14 points and 11 boards already.

Their center is destroying us. We can't box her out-- she has 8 offensive board (6 this quarter), and she has her will in the paint (7-9 FGs).

It's a miracle we're up 49-44 after 3Q. Because of their dominance on the boards, USF has taken 15 more shots than us. Fortunately, they're shooting just 37%. And we're 11-11 from the charity stripe. Jazzy with 16 points.

69 - 59 final. 02-13-banana USF closed to within 3 half way through the 4Q, thanks to 4 or 5 turnovers by Rice, but from there we righted the ship and closed it out strongly. 14-15 from the FT line was a key factor. We also finally showed up on the boards.

Jazzy with 21, DJ with 14 (6 boards, 4 assists), Fisher with 7 points (2 boards, 3 assists, 3 blocks), Ennis with 8 (7 boards)

Good, bounce back road win against a quality team after that disastrous Saturday choke job.

Or in this case, up to the competition level.
USF has been an NCAA participant 6 of their 9 seasons in the AAC. They are having a down (for them) season this year but are still in the mix of competitive teams.
Much like Rice this year, for that matter.

Glad we got the better of them last night.

Yes, and they were the preseason pick to win conference. And we swept them in the regular season.

Three of our four conference losses were without Fisher. Jazzy missed some of the losses too. Hayes and Klacsek too. The criticism of the women has been unreasonable. Big games coming up - should go a long ways towards determining whether they are a top four seed.

Congrats to Coach Edmonds for her 50th win (in 81 games - fastest to 50 in Rice history btw).

Also, it was mentioned earlier in the thread but to DJ too on 1000 career points. She also has probably become the all time Rice record holder in games played. But that isn’t a stat in the record books.

It has to be a stat somewhere. On the men’s side they mentioned Fielder having the most career starts.

RE: WBB @ USF
Maybe it was kept in some distant media guide but it hasn’t been a listed record recently. In any regard, DJ is the first Owl to play five full seasons at Rice. But she didn’t play every game her true freshman year. And some of those seasons weren’t as long as other seasons where Rice had deep postseason runs.

I think the most games Rice has played in a four year stretch is 131. DJ is about at that game total now for five seasons.
