Cause that's all we know how to do. Oh well.

At least with an out of control dribble drive to the bucket there's a chance he picks up a foul and goes to the line.
With the way they were helping and taking away the driving lanes, there was a better chance of him getting stripped or double teamed. The best play would have been a drive and kick.

This is not new. It's a hallmark of ODU teams. Who was the last actually muscular, powerful guard we've had?

We seem to play completely out of control.

Maybe because the entire roster consists of 6’4 shooting guards. That makes it easier for the other team to drive the ball to the basket and get in position for rebounds.
I thought we did a pretty good job taking away drives. They probably took more awkward off-balance shots than we did. But then we run under the basket and don't box out. If we would just box out, the size disadvantage would be reduced.

It’s amazing to me that we don’t try some sort of pressing heater skeleton defense for more than the last minute of a game. This team is going nowhere but one thing it does have is some athletic quickness with a bunch of players the same size. The one minute we turned up the heat in the last minute of the game really seemed to throw CM off their game. It didn’t translate for us much on offense but it did create some confusion for CM. I suppose Donahue has too much Jeff Jones DNA in him to make such a change.

They should literally just trap the entire basketball game. At least then maybe they would have more dunks or entertain that morgue of a crowd everyone is soo used to at this point. Every time they show the crowd everyone is sitting down. It didn’t used to be like that. The crowd hasn’t had something to get excited about for 6 years!!! The program is completely dead in every way!!! You can’t hide that behind Kenpom numbers. An entire generation of fans is completely gone, never even existed. That’s the biggest difference between now and 10 years ago.

It’s an unwatchable product as it is. But like you said, Donohue is just an extension of JJ. They should obviously just coach them like an AAU middle school aged team and full court trap the entire ball game. But whatever, they just want to sit back and be losers I guess. It’s a losers mentality throughout the entire program at this point. I feel for some of the players because I know they are playing hard but it is what it is. Losers lose. It starts at the top.

And just for future reference, if ODU actually wants to win another game this year which may or may not happen, they’ll put the ball in Imo’s hands down the stretch. He’s the only kid on the team I think will make a winning play. He did it multiple times last year but I’m pretty sure he was on the bench at the end. Go figure.

Is what Duke's heat map might of looked like back when they were like ride or die by the 3 all those years? Or so it seemed.

There’s no way there’s another division 1 basketball team that misses the amount of layups this team does. Or dunks even. You gotta make your dunks. Haha. That goes without saying.
