MyBB MBB vs USF
Just got home to watch the last few seconds of the 1H. Owls head to the locker room at tha half up 38-25. WTH? Where has this been most of the season?

Owls are out-shooting, 47% - 31%, out-rebounding, 22-17, and protecting the ball better, 3 TOs to 7 TOs, than USF.

We've had the first half lead in the majority of our games this season. It's the 2nd half collapse that has defined the season.

Unfortunately true, but that’s still an impressive 1H against the league leading, 16-5, Bulls.

Rice lead by 9 at the half in Tampa. Maybe Willis has some advice for this lead?

25-9 USF in the 2nd half, thus far.

It took less than half of the 2nd half to lose the lead. Mason 3 gets it back, briefly.

Same old, same old. USF 6-6 from deep in the first 9 minutes of the 2H and, as usual, Rice FT shooting is atrocious (5-10).

55-57 @ 9:26

Lots of settling for 3 attempts by the Owls. Bulls up 60-57 with about 6 1/2 to play.

8-12 on 3-pointers is a major reason why. Mason and Huseinovic can't hit anything. First half we were feeding Fielder and Dawes in the post. Fiedler finally took and made his first attempt of the 2H with less than 4 minutes to go.

65-68 @ 1:59 USF shooting 60% from deep in 2H (9-15), with Youngblood 6-7 from deep, all in the 2H.

Evee forces a contested 3 with 16 seconds left on the shot clock. We're not going to win games with that type of decision-making. Mason with one of his worst games of the season (2-9 FG, 2 boards, 0 assists, 4 TOs).

65-69 final. Same story all season long. Don't understand why we went away from our inside game that worked so well in the first half.

RE: MBB vs USF
Absolutely HORRIBLE coaching by Pera. Rice let USF run the click down, trailing by 3 with a little more than 1 minute left. Since Rice had just 4 team fouls, the Owls should have been ultra-aggressive in trying to steal the ball. You don't just hope for one stop, leaving your team needing a 3 pointer just to tie.

Total coaching malpractice.

65-69 final. Anyone here not expect the very predictable 2H comeback?

Out of the last 12 games, Rice has been outscored in the 2nd half 11 times.

Rice had the halftime lead in 7 of the 12.

I would say that is predictable.

I would say that is predictable.

And outscored by a wide margin in the majority of them. We've actually had first half leads in over half our games this season, and double digit leads in a number of them.

The irony … this year’s AAC is order of magnitude on par with last year’s CUSA. Just awful.

I remember, sadly, a Rice team that went 1-23. Like this one, had the halftime lead in a bunch of those games, some by double digits. And also like this one, played virtually no defense.

When you can't get stops, you can't put people away.
