If there’s another team as bad as ODU I’d like to know who they are. I’m talking about the entire country. This is one sad group man. I can’t even think of one aspect of the game they are even average in. They are bad in every facet of the ball game. That’s hard to do.

I can't disagree at all. ODU has done plenty to beat themselves tonight, but these officials have been questionable at best. They are as inconsistent as our shooting.

I did enjoy watching Pounds. Even though he bricked all those free throws down the stretch. He looked active and was in much better position on both ends. Ty Williams needs to stop shooting 3s. It’s crazy how poorly this team shoots every freaking season. That will be JJs lasting impression. I’ll always remember how bad his teams shot the basketball. 42% field goal. 30% three point and 68% from the FT line. That’s been about the 10 year average. Think about that… that’s just miserable. The saving grace was the defense and rebounding but they haven’t been good at those things either for the last 5 years. This particular team does nothing well.

At the very least, I think ODU would lose to every other D1 FBS team in the state. Teams like Longwood and Norfolk State would woop us right now.

We run plays? We toss a couple passes then whoever has the ball either shoots a 3 or goes 1 on 1. Rarely do I see any slashing, pick and roll, or anything that looks like a set play. Forgive this superficial thought, but it’s all I’ve got.

For me, the most pertinent moment last night was the Devin Caesar technical. Ordinarily, to would be a stupid thing for a player to do - - slam the basketball into the floor in frustration over a ref’s non-call. In prior seasons, I would have been appalled.

But not this season. I agreed with it, and frankly wished that it was me slamming the ball down. At least one player is showing some intensity (and I give Pounds and Wade full credit, and Essian and Blakeney half credit, for also playing with some spirit last night).

But not the rest of the team. Nor the coaches, who did nothing more than quietly stand and raise their arms, as if that made any difference. Worst of all is the complacency of the administration, which (from the outside at least) appears to be content to sit quietly on the sideline and act as if the forced fan enthusiasm means everything is okay. Credit again to those fans and students showing up, who are really trying to stay engaged in the face of a miserable display on the floor.

Slamming down the basketball during a game is not good. But it showed more spunk and care than anything that I’ve seen this year out out of the Selig administration and the Jones coaching staff.

This is the worst offensive team in the history of the program, and JT’s not even remotely close. This coaching staff has done one of the worst jobs we have ever seen. Jeff is definitely following the results. I hope he sees what he has turned this into.

Just a handful left. Looks like they will pass Tom Young’s 22 loss team. Will they lose 25? Or more?

Most we can lose is 26.

We have:
Georgia State (H)
App State (H)
Coastal (H)
App State (A)
Georgia Southern (A)
SBC Tournament

Coastal and Georgia Southern aren't instant losses, it was a decent game Georgia State until the end and we're at home now, and we haven't played App yet so we don't know how we match up with them. It would be really funny if our only wins this season in conference were vs Marshall and App. But if we lose to Coastal and GS I feel like we're gonna lose all of 'em.

If that problem didn’t exist was not there , he would never have got fired. We have only had two AD’s since the early 70’s. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think Jarrett retired. This leads to believe that no AD will get fired at ODU. At this point, we have a young president (from a small college) who has more important things to do other than the athletic department. Same with BOV.As far as coaches, BT is the only coach fired except maybe Tom Young. This tells me Wood is in complete control at ODU and with other coaches getting fired for bad years so quickly, this is not Wood’s way of doing business . I just have to live with it, because our words mean nothing.

Tom Young, Jeff Capel and Blaine Taylor were all fired. And all were better coaches than Jones is now. And left our program in better shape than it is now. If they inexplicably don’t fire Jeff Jones, they should publicly apologize to the Young and Capel families.

It cannot be said enough...there were a few of us who saw this coming when Jones was retained after that complete debacle last year in the conference tournament. If he returns again you might as well close it down.

I'm aware. Doesn't make it any less funny when the university uses those numbers in their articles or headlines to make it seem like we still have a crowd showing up. (And I'm sure they have been used in the past or will be used in the future as justification to keep on this losing course).
