Rice vs Notre Dame - Game 3
Mayo, with his Rice debut, starts of the game with back to back walks.

Good news! Didn’t matter, because he walked him on 5 pitches anyway. Bases loaded with 3 straight walks

Tap back to the pitcher for an easy double play…BUT, Mayo nearly throws it over Manny’s head. Manny makes an incredible stab to save the out at the plate, but no way to complete the DP.

Should have been the 3rd out with the K, but we’ll take it.

Holy Houdini!! Easy 4-6 grounder to get Mayo out of it!!!!! What a memorable first inning! Tap dancing our way through a minefield there, but fantastic job of settling down and getting the outs, so tip of the cap to Mayo to right the ship!

Rank gets a two-base error from a terrible throw from the 3b to 1b, so Owl on 2nd to lead off!

GALLO WITH THE 2-RUN BOMB TO LEFT! No doubter!

3rd game in a row with runs scored in the first inning. Good to see early, but now need often!

This is another great trend—battling at the plate. Becker started off 0-2, but battled all the way back to work a walk. Manny moved Becker to 2B with a slow roller groundout. 2 outs and Becker on 2B…

Arrrrrggggggh! Cumming sends a high shot that is caught against the LF fence. Just missed another 2-run homer. Just got under it a little too much. Owls up 2-0 heading to top of 2nd

RE: Rice vs Notre Dame - Game 2
Dammit. Didn’t get a borderline call on 1-2 pitch, and ended up giving up lead off walk. 4th walk already. Not ideal

Ks the next batter

Aaaaaaand walks the next one. 5 walks now. ND with men on first and second, one out.

For Pete’s sake. On a 1-2 pitch, an off speed pitch gets away from Mayo, and now a HBP loads the bases.

Couldn’t complete the double play….or did we? Being reviewed

HE’S OUT!

Escapes another bases loaded jam! Incredibly close call, but they overturned the safe call

Fantastic bunt by Kyte McDonald! No play made, so now Owls on 1st and 2nd to start off the 2nd

Beautiful bunt by Max Johnson forces the pitcher to make a great play, but moves the Owls over to 2nd and 3rd
