Gallant to pitch the 9th. Fly out to RF (Correa) to lead off. Nice K on the offspeed. Tiger swings on a 3-0 pitch, and gifts us a pop out to 1B. On to the 9th….

Royo flies out to RF for the first out. Rank strikes out for strikeout #10. Keeping our double digit streak alive. McDonald smokes a liner off the pitcher, who nearly recovers to get him, but McDonald beats the throw. Steals second uncontested. Gallo strikes out looking to end it. [chef’s kiss…]
11 Ks for the Owls tonight.

RE: Rice Baseball vs. LSU
The disparity in pitching between our top 4 and the rest of the staff right now is almost unfathomable.
Smith/McCracken/Hickson/Urbancyzk: 41.1IP, 1.52 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 3.07 K/BB
Rest of Staff (including tonight): 28.2 IP, 10.35 ERA, 2.42 WHIP, 0.97 K/BB, 9.42 BB/9
9.42 BB/9 is unfathomable to me for pretty much any college pitcher, let alone a whole staff. That's more like a number I'd expect to see from my son's county league 10U team

11 Ks for the Owls tonight.
Live Stats is showing 13 Ks for the Owls tonight. 11 or 13, it’s too many. LSU had 9 Ks.
LSU scored 16 runs on 11 hits with no Rice errors. That’s hard to do until you add in 10 walks and several HBPs.
Owls scored 4 runs, only 1 earned (3 LSU errors) on 9 hits and only 2 walks.

Why is this Gallant's first appearance. Has one of the best fastballs on the staff and a solid off-speed pitch. Missed all last year with a concussion. Has potential to be a very solid 1 - 2 inning reliever. Instead, Jose keeps going back to Ben-Shoshan, Rodriguez, Hamilton and Vincent, all of whom have failed repeatedly and consistently for 2 years now.

He was never even an assistant. His only on field job was with Hinch in Detroit for several months before being named at Rice.
I’m not sure if LSU would have gotten more out of an intra squad scrimmage.

I sincerely hope that isn’t the case.
Continued prayers.

Welcome back Tiki. Sorry you missed last weekend, but I know the game outcomes did not fall in line with your agenda. Sorry you did not get your guy, but I don't understand why you don't want Rice to be successful because of that. FWIW, do you think LSU feels similar to Tarleton State putting up 14 on their opponent a week ago?
