Oklahoma trans student Nex Benedict’s death ruled a suicide by medical examiner
Quote:The cause of death for Owasso, Oklahoma sophomore student Dagny "Nex" Benedict has been reported by an initial medical examiner's report as suicide. Benedict had been in a fight with girls at her school in the school bathroom and died the next day.

A toxicology report from the medical examiner's office showed that "the probable cause of death resulted from Diphenhydramine and Fluoxetine combined toxicity." The report from the medical examiner's officer was not released until the toxicology report had been completed.

"From the beginning of this investigation, Owasso Police observed many indications that this death was the result of suicide," a statement from the police said. "However, investigators did not wish to confirm that information without the final results being presented by the Oklahoma Medical Examiners Office. The Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s report has now been made public. The Owasso Police Department would like to take this moment to inform anyone in crisis or contemplating suicide of the Oklahoma Mental Health Lifeline, just call or text 988."

The Owasso Police Department had previously said that Benedict's death was not a result of trauma or injuries sustained during the altercation. "Owasso Police say their investigation revealed the death of 16-year-old Nex Benedict was not related to their injuries after the physical altercation at the school," the statement from officers read on February 21.

"While the investigation continues into the altercation. Preliminary information from the medical examiner’s office is that a complete autopsy was performed and indicated that the decedent did not die as a result of trauma. At this time, any further comments on the cause of death are currently pending until toxicology results and other ancillary testing results are received. The official autopsy report will be available at a later date."

Benedict was the focus of many protests and vigils from activists claiming that Benedict was bullied and killed for being trans. The events were held by LGBTQ activists as well as Antifa, and portrayed Benedict as a trans non-binary martyr. Calls for greater acceptance of trans persons followed.

The family confirmed that Benedict also went by Nex. Benedict died after going to the hospital on Feb. 8, the day after the altercation at school. Benedict had been interviewed by officers on Feb. 7, when attending the hospital after the fight. The fight involved other girls.

Benedict had said that she hadn't known the girls prior to that week, and that she and her friends had been bullied for their clothes and the way they dressed. Benedict told police, per body cam footage, that she had approached the girls in the bathroom and poured water on them.

Tranny killed itself because it knows it started the fight. If we still had insane asylums, that little creature would still be alive. Good riddance as far as I'm concerned.

I don't have sympathy for little creeps like this. They bought into this nonsense. They have to suffer the consequences for it.

It's criminal what elements in the medical community have done to give the present administration a talking point. We've moved a long way from "Do No Harm".

Medical Examiner Report on Dagny-Nex Benedict Shows Death by Suicide and Activists Move Goalposts Again

Quote:An Oklahoma Medical Examiner’s preliminary toxicology report on the death last month of teenager Dagny-Nex Benedict has been released. For weeks, the teen’s demise had become the focus of LGBT? activists, intent on making the youth into a martyr for their cause. This was seen in the outbreak of vigils held across the country, a clear attempt to build this incident into a motivational event. But, as I had covered a few weeks ago, this call to action faced inertia as there were numerous facts emerging that derailed much of the activist outrage.

Now, more specifics have been reported, and once again, a shift in the activist narrative is taking place. As many had suspected, the toxicology report just released showed Benedict died from an overdose of combined doses of Benadryl and Prozac, in what is ruled as a suicide.

The passing of a young person is always regarded as tragic, but that inherent misery becomes compounded when that death is transformed into a social and political cause. We see some of this emerging with the death of the Georgia co-ed Laken Riley; while the direct cause of death by an illegal is a valid concern, the broadening political points to be scored are trending to the unseemly. (An illegal who was released numerous times by authorities is the issue; making her into a campaign slogan is crossing the line.)

This activism drive has certainly been the case with the Dagny-Nex Benedict death, and the tasteless use of this event has been starker. The initial claims and charges unspooled and led to accusations being thrown wildly at school officials, state authorities, and even attempts to make Libs of TikTok culpable. The finger-pointing and bellowing charges had trouble getting traction as many of the claims became neutered by the exposure of facts, leading to shifts in the outrage.

As the story evolved, those who refused to wait for all of the facts to come in became stalled by the arrival of those details. The claims that were countered included that Benedict had been rendered unconscious, the fight was a hate crime, and the death occurred in the hospital as a result of the attack. Then, as the specifics of the incident became apparent, we saw the talking points becoming contorted:

The lack of Benedict blacking out was school officials changing the story

Benedict was not knocked but sustained lasting internal injuries

Emergency crews called to the home were responding to Benedict succumbing to internal injuries

The first ME report showing a lack of blunt-force trauma was a cover-up by authorities.

Once it became known that a toxicology report would need to be completed to have a better idea of the cause of death, you could sense the activists adjusting their narratives. Now, with the arrival of these details, the expected new script says the suicide was compelled by sustained bullying over Benedict’s status as a member of the LGBT? community.

Even this is met with conflicting talking points, as the desire to accuse some of trans-phobia is met with the reports that Nex self-identified as non-binary, not trans specifically. The insistence on calling Nex “him” is not only countered by the claim of being non-binary, but the police video from the initial hospital visit showed Benedict being referred to as “she” by both police and the grandmother, with no pushback or corrections, as well as being referred to as Dagny, Benedict’s birth name.

So many of the details from this conflict at the school have derailed the desired narrative. Security video showed Benedict walking in good condition immediately following the fight. During the police interview, Nex admitted to starting the fight. Nex also detailed not knowing those in the conflict which defied the sustained bullying claims. The interview had Benedict in decent spirits and not showing signs of severe physical trauma. Emergency crews were called to the home the day after the fight, indicating a possible differing influence on the condition of the student.

Today, we learn another disqualifying detail. It is notable how little energy we are seeing from those in the press who were loudly behind the initial story. The corrections are tepid, the apologies are scant, and an admission of jumping to baseless conclusions is nowhere to be found.

Yet all the while, accusations have flown and the energy for a social conflict to emerge has seemed obvious, but it became stalled with conflicting facts. Now, we've learned that suicide was the cause of death and the narrative shifts anew. The outrage, however, remains in place.

RE: Oklahoma trans student Nex Benedict’s death ruled a suicide by medical examiner
Trans Ideologues Would Rather Revolt Against Reality Than Admit They Were Wrong

Quote:Gender ideology has a reality problem. Just look at the latest cover story for New York Magazine, in which the trans-identified writer Andrea Long Chu denounced reality itself, writing that “the belief that we have a moral duty to accept reality just because it is real is, I think, a fine definition of nihilism.”

Well, that is a … novel philosophical assertion.

It is tempting to dismiss Chu’s denunciation of reality as an insane gambit by a flailing ideology, but declaring war against reality might just be crazy enough to work. This approach provides the collapsing gender ideology movement a way out of myriad difficulties — instead of relying on shoddy science to support medical “transition,” including for children, gender ideologues can instead appeal to a supposed right to physical self-determination and modification, even for children. Liberals like the idea of liberating mankind from the limits of our humanity, and so even as Chu retreats from the usual arguments of gender ideology, he invites the left to join in this more radical vision.

This effort to find a better justification for gender ideology pushes Chu to argue that it was a mistake for the left to hang “trans rights on the thin peg of gender identity.” This approach won some victories, but it “failed to form a coherent moral account of why someone’s gender identity should justify the actual biological interventions that make up gender-affirming care.”

The radical bodily alterations of “gender-affirming care” have been justified by elevating “gender identity” to the status of a person’s essence, deeper and more real than the body itself. But people are realizing that a “gender identity” is metaphysical conjecture, not medicine or biology. Thus, Chu sees reliance on gender identity as a trap for transgender advocates. It is superstitious to imagine that there is something like gendered souls that sometimes, somehow, get stuck in the wrong bodies.

He also sees that searching for reasons and explanations for transgenderism may prove deadly to the cause of gender ideology. By making the case for “transition” (again, especially for children) contingent on generating favorable evidence (medical, sociological, psychological) for it, the transgender movement has become more vulnerable as that evidence has failed to materialize. Furthermore, requiring reasons for transition tends to establish some form of gatekeeping, in which transition is doled out only to those determined to be truly transgender.

Chu fears that subjecting the transgender movement, and especially its medical wing, to rational, evidence-based scrutiny will restrict and ultimately destroy it. Instead, he wants transgender activists and their allies to:

[S]top relying on the increasingly metaphysical concept of gender identity to justify sex-changing care, as if such care were only permissible when one’s biological sex does not match the serial number engraved on one’s soul. … [W]e must rid ourselves of the idea that any necessary relationship exists between sex and gender; this prepares us to claim that the freedom to bring sex and gender into whatever relation one chooses is a basic human right.

He thereby makes explicit what has always been the position of gender ideologues, which is that there should be medical transition on demand for everyone. He writes, “We must be prepared to defend the idea that, in principle, everyone should have access to sex-changing medical care, regardless of age, gender identity, social environment, or psychiatric history.” This is not about medical need, but about a subjective desire to flee from the reality of one’s embodied self.

As the recent release of the WPATH files demonstrates, so-called “gender-affirming care” is not rigorous and evidence-based, but being made up on the fly and administered to children who cannot give informed consent to it. The medical case for transition is crumbling (and other nations are pulling back from it), but for those who are in too deep to back out, Chu’s articulation of a more radical alternative may be appealing. It is, after all, what the activists already believe.

Thus, they may now be drawn to Chu’s assertion that “We will never be able to defend the rights of transgender kids until we understand them purely on their own terms: as full members of society who would like to change their sex. It does not matter where this desire comes from.” Chu’s own so-called transition was sparked by the fetishes he developed from a porn addiction, so he has a personal reason to deny that there is any significance to why someone wants to transition.

Instead of justifying transition as medically necessary based on the supposed psychological distress of not transitioning, Chu insists upon a right to bodily modification for whatever reason and without regard for the results. He acknowledges that the biology of sex is real, but he just regards it as an enemy to be subdued and made subject to our whims. He writes that “any comprehensive movement for trans rights must be able to make political demands at the level of biology itself.”

Chu admits that this approach “does not promise happiness. Nor should it. It is good and right for advocates to fight back against the liberal fixation on the health risks of sex-changing care or the looming possibility of detransition. But it is also true that where there is freedom, there will always be regret.” He continues, insisting, “If we are to recognize the rights of trans kids, we will also have to accept that, like us, they have a right to the hazards of their own free will.”

That proclamation might sound reasonable to Chu and his editors, but it is madness to anyone who actually cares about children and their well-being. Good parenting requires a great deal of limiting children’s free will and the hazards it exposes them to.

Ominously, Chu is not the first to prominently insist that children should be transitioned without regard for the risks. Lydia Polgreen made a similar argument in The New York Times last December, arguing that children should be transitioned regardless of whether they might regret it later. This argument absolves gender ideologues of all responsibility, even toward children who are incapable of understanding the consequences of their decisions. According to Chu and Polgreen’s doctrine, there is no need to prove that transition helps mental health or to worry about the side effects, complications, and regrets it may produce. All there is to do is cheer while enabling troubled children to make war against their natural, healthy bodies.

In this, Chu is simply extending to children an argument he has made for years about adults. In a 2018 Times piece shortly before he got genital surgery, he wrote, “This is what I want, but there is no guarantee it will make me happier. In fact, I don’t expect it to. That shouldn’t disqualify me from getting it.” Chu claimed that the “surgery’s only prerequisite should be a simple demonstration of want” and that “no amount of pain, anticipated or continuing, justifies its withholding.”

As Ryan T. Anderson observed at the time, Chu regards doctors as mere technicians, paid to deliver the services the customer demands, regardless of whether the procedures help the patient. This idea of medicine is unconcerned with health, happiness, or any idea of human well-being — it doesn’t even care if transition increases the risk of suicide. All that matters, in this view, is that someone wants to transition. This argument is toxic even if applied only to adults, but Chu is now explicitly arguing that it should extend to children, whose health, well-being, and lives he is willing to sacrifice to justify his choices and ideology.

He concludes that “trans kids … do not owe us an explanation. They are busy taking charge of their own creation. They may not change the world, but they will certainly change themselves.” This proclamation reveals the real heart of gender ideology, which is not medicine, but revolt. Gender ideology is rooted in a hatred for the givenness of our existence. It longs for the god-like but unattainable power of self-creation. Thus, it readily abdicates all responsibility toward children, for it sees guidance, instruction, and discipline as oppression.

This is an inhuman ideology. The sudden prominence of Chu’s radicalism may signal the imminent collapse of the gender ideology house of cards, especially regarding children. But this is not certain. Some people will embrace even the most radical and repulsive ideas if the alternative is admitting they were wrong. That Chu’s ideas are being published in influential places shows that elite liberals are at least considering them.

It is difficult to reason with a revolt against reality itself. What can be done is to demonstrate that it is immiserating. A way of life that rejects happiness, health, and well-being in pursuit of an impossible rebellion against existence itself is self-refuting. We might even call it nihilistic.

I'm going to be about as compassionate as anyone should be here.

There is a reason gender dysphoria has been considered a 'mental issue' for decades... because of the incredible 'stress' that must be present... like your brain telling your left hand to move and instead it moves your right. I get that and these people need help... and there may be SOME cases where the best plan for them to move forward at all is ont that includes them 'swapping their arms'... as in gender transformation.

But while it MIGHT reduce some anxieties, that doesn't really solve the problem because no matter how much lipstick you wear or how many surgeries you get, you will NEVER fully be a woman (or even one at all, but let's leave that alone for these purposes)... so no matter what you do surgically, you will never 'be' what you 'feel'. You're just playing highly advanced dress-up.... and if you're an adult and you want to split your tongue and get penile implants and horns implanted on your forehead... then go for it...

but guess what? Just as you would if you chose to wear baggy pants or slutty clothes or drive an H1 or a moped, people are going to have reactions and all of them won't be positive.

Life is hard... get a helmet... and if a helmet isn't enough, then don't draw attention to your 'differences'... because not all of the attention that you will get will be positive.

While I do think that some people on the right seem obsessed with this small percentage of people... unreasonably so... as in, I don't care if a man wants to pretend to be a woman or a woman a man... I DO think there are reasonable limits to that... as in a man doesn't get to claim to be a woman for anything that is designed to 'advance' women... whether that be sports or jobs or anything else... and while I'm willing to look at alternatives like gender neutral bathrooms or even just gender neutral stalls in bathrooms, seperate bathrooms have 'been a thing' for a very long time... almost entirely because of the risk it puts women at... to be so vulnerable around unknown men. Bathrooms can easily become predators hang-outs, unless we want to start issuing people 'public restroom badges' that they have to wear at all times that can be revoked if you're convicted of a predatory act. This is not unique to humans by the way... just go to the dogpark and watch how dogs eye their owners while they poop. They're vulnerable... It's innate.

The argument that we shouldn't change society because of predators is directly contrary to one of the primary functions of society.... to protect us from predators. The argument that we should just 'accept' these people, normalizing what it by definition not 'normal' is ludicrous on its face. If you want me to be compassionate, then you must be reasonable in your demands for compassion. I am more than willing to refer to a man in a dress who is EARNESTLY and thoughtfully trying to address their own internal issues by doing so as 'she'... but just like a parent who tells their 7 year old how great their handprint Thanksgiving Turkey art is, I am not willing to suspend reality and insist that such a piece be hung in the Louvre and scream 'bigotry' if it is not. I will refer to them as 'she' out of courtesy... and I expect in return the courtesy of accepting that you really are not... for most other purposes.... and the minute they demand that I accept that for most other purposes, they LOSE the courtesy of being called 'she'.... because THEY are not being courteous.

RE: Oklahoma trans student Nex Benedict’s death ruled a suicide by medical examiner
NEW: Biden calls to 'end discrimination' against 'transgender children' after Democrats spread false narrative about Nex Benedict’s death

Quote:On Thursday, Joe Biden released a statement offering his condolences to the family of Dagny "Nex" Benedict, the 16-year-old transgender Oklahoma high school student who died last month.

Benedict's death was recently ruled a suicide by a medical examiner, contradicting claims made by many that the teen had passed away as the result of a hate-fueled beating carried out by fellow students.

"Jill and I are heartbroken by the recent loss of Nex Benedict," the statement began. "Every young person deserves to have the fundamental right and freedom to be who they are, and feel safe and supported at school and in their communities. Nex Benedict, a kid who just wanted to be accepted, should still be here with us today."

The president went on to claim, "Nonbinary and transgender people are some of the bravest Americans I know," adding that, "nobody should have to be brave just to be themselves."

"In memory of Nex, we must all recommit to our work to end discrimination and address the suicide crisis impacting too many nonbinary and transgender children. Bullying is hurtful and cruel, and no one should face the bullying that Nex did. Parents and schools must take reports of bullying seriously. My prayers are with Nex’s family, friends, and all who loved them – and to all LGBTQI+ Americans for whom this tragedy feels so personal, know this: I will always have your back."

Benedict died following a visit to the hospital on February 8, the day after an altercation at school involving other girls.

A toxicology report from the medical examiner's office revealed that "the probable cause of death resulted from Diphenhydramine and Fluoxetine combined toxicity."

In the days after Benedict's death, numerous protests and vigils took place, with activists claiming that Benedict was bullied and killed for being transgender.

RE: Oklahoma trans student Nex Benedict’s death ruled a suicide by medical examiner
Quote:Joe Biden and his radical clown show of staffers have issued a statement on the apparent suicide death of trans student Nex Benedict while ignoring the deaths of these Americans who died at the hands of illegals:

Laken Riley, 22
Travis Wolfe, 12
Jeremy Poou-Caceres, 2
Melissa Powell, 47
Riordan Powell, 16
Aiden Clark, 11

Toxicology reports reveal Nex Benedict's probable cause of death was suicide from Diphenhydramine and Fluoxetine combined toxicity. The loss of a child is always tragic, but there is zero evidence she was targeted because of her identity. This occurred a day after she started a fight with girls she had no history and did not know.

The media claimed she died as a result of LGBTQ bullying. They lied.
