Blocks placed him 58th in nation despite only 19.2 mpg. Does not shoot threes. He appears to understand and able to implement a supporting role. Good pickup, I think.

Jones at the PF sport (assuming he returns) is a puzzler, although he would be a nightmare matchup on the offensive end and he is a tough rebounder.
IMO, we need a true big and defensive menace and other solid players willing and able to join a supporting cast.
I agree, but right now, we have 3 starting caliber players who are all guards or wings, and no surefire starting big man at PF or C.
So, if Jones returns (likely), you either start him at the 4 and play slightly smaller ball, or you sit one of the 3 guards on the bench at the beginning of the game.
I also think Dainja might be the starting center, with Jourdain and T. Smith backing up the 4 and/or 5, depending on who else Penny signs.
We still have 5 schollies remaining, or 4 if Jones returns.
I'm not sure I want 13 scholarship players on the roster, b/c Penny tends to play everybody in uniform, every game, and most get in within the first few minutes of the game. When Calipari was here, he carried 10 or 11 guys on the roster most years, IIRC, and only had 7 or 8 in the main rotation.

Seriously, what can Congress do? The courts have already ruled that what the NCAA has been doing for its entire existence is illegal, as far as earning billions from football and basketball, and not sharing it with the athletes, and then restricting their movement.
No business in the country is allowed to operate like that, and when your annual revenue is multi-billions a year, yes, you're a business.
I suppose Congress could grant them an anti-trust exemption, but then the players can turn around and sue the NCAA yet again, and the courts will rule the same way they have for years now.
Let's face it. College football and basketball are no longer amateur sports. The Olympics went through this same evolution years ago. They claimed status as an amateur operation, yet they also brought in billions. Athletes sued and won. Now they are all professionals.
MLB went through the same thing in 1970 with the Curt Flood case.
The other college sports are closer to being amateur, but how do you pay some athletes, and not others?
Quite a sticky wicket, as the British would say.
For us fans, we have to decide whether we want to follow along, or find a new hobby.
Frankly, I like the offseason a lot better in basketball. Much more exciting. I'm okay with building essentially a new team every year.
My objective, unlike many fans, is not to worry about how many games we win, but just to be entertained with each game, and with the drama associated with their endeavors.
You are only ok with it because your schools poaches the other conference teams best players. If you guys were constantly losing your best players because Tulsa outbid you for them, you wouldn't find it exciting anymore.
AAC basketball has become a FedEx Subsidiary at this point. You have a good player? FedEx will pay them to play for Memphis.
Sorry, but I don't feel that way at all. I'm weird. I don't care who we get or lose. I'm not that invested in whether we win anything or not, either.
I'm WAY too old to give a crap (pushing 80 these days). I have enough serious things in my life that I do worry about, so I'll be damned if I let some sports team's ups and downs bother me.
I just watch the games and enjoy them as entertainment. I like to talk about all the stuff, b/c it's interesting, but I'm really not vested in the specific results.
Plus, we lose some of our best football players to other schools, and I don't care. And I actually like football more than basketball.
I've been going to games since 1952. I've seen a lot of ups and downs since then. The only time it really bothered me was when we blew the lead to Kansas in the F2 in 2008. That took a while to get over. Maybe a day, since I was there in person.
Any other loss of a game or player? Nope. And yes, my buddies think I'm extremely weird for that, lol.
Actually, I think most of you guys are weird if you let your sports teams' fortunes affect your mood, b/c no fan has a damn bit of control over the results.
I'm also a diehard Atlanta Braves fan. Same deal there.
perfectly said....I think I love you
and Bob horner was my favorite brave of all time
Hell yeah, him and Murphy made a powerful one two punch. I remember watching those Braves games on WGN when I was a kid.
