States run elections. Their laws are all over the place in this area. But bottom line, what real difference does it make? You don't have to know the damned result a few hours after the poll closes?

Regardless, you do in most states for the mere fact that it's not a close election.

I don't know Tom.. Call me silly.. If everything is done in a matter of hours, maybe we won't have fights over possible election fraud... I mean honestly mail in ballots should be done by those who won't be in town for the election or those in nursing homes//critically ill that cannot go to polling stations.

I also believe in voter ID and there ought to be a constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. (points if anyone knows where that last part came from)

I love(d) baseball when I was a kid. I still do but not enough to watch it on TV. But I do know that for the 22 season the DH was introduced in both leagues where prior it was only an AL thing or the NL used it only when playing in an AL venue.

My son was a left handed pitcher who could hurl a fastball at your feet at 75-80 mph as a 14 year old with the best of them. But he could also knock one over the fence fairly regularly. I never could teach him control enough to make it as a pitcher. We spent hours and hours practicing and I got hit in the nuts on more than a few occasions. By the time he was in HS he'd become a center-fielder who could throw it to the plate from deep.

Sorry for rambling, I just went on a trip down memory lane. Coaching my son from t-ball to HS was one of the great joys of my life. There are days now that I'd love nothing more than to be on a field hitting to kids or in the back yard playing catch with my boy.

No state has all their votes counted within hours, what you see on the news are projections. Remember when all the networks "projected" that Gore won Florida and then had to take it back?

Look at how your own state counts ballots.

Spend more money. Better machines. More training. Legislation allowing mail in/absentees to be counted 22 days before election.

Florida was a mess 24 years ago and learned.
