Very easy.. Penny was blindsided by the second coming of Magic Johnson.. Emoni Bates who was a bust.. and then he is still had "his son" Lomax on the team.

Probably not enough NIL $$ remaining in the till to move on the young man.

Kam committed to Marquette a month before NIL was allowed by the Supreme Court in July 2021

Ok. I honestly did not remember his recruitment. Maybe Marquette has just developed him into the player he is now.

I know that he was there before Shaka.

He would’ve sat the bench here behind the all American Jayden Hardaway

He had committed the year before Shaka was hired but he has played all 3 of his college years under Shaka. Kid wasn’t ranked by most services so he was an under the radar prospect. Shaka and his staff have done a great job developing him.

Supposedly had offers from Florida and Marquette, but the rest were mid majors like Troy and Tenn Tech. Let’s face it he would have probably transferred out. Some of yall don’t realize how toxic the situation is here and it’s been that way going back to the end of the Finch years. It why Cal didn’t get Earnest Shelton and JP Prince etc

Thanks, the years run together nowadays.

We really freak out too much over these local players who go elsewhere and do well. The ones that come here seem to underachieve or else transfer out. Does anyone actually think he woulda played with Lester, Nolley, Bates, Lomax and Harris as guards?

Why is the situation here toxic?

It started back in the early 90s. You had coaches like Ted Anderson brokering Arkansas to take his son Darrell so they could get his step son Todd Day. Then you had all these high school coaches turn on Finch because he wouldn’t give them jobs. He got fired mostly because he didn’t get Tony Harris or Robert O’Kelly. Then fast forward to the Pastner years and you had the drama with Joe, Tarik , Austin Nichols and Nick King.

It’s mainly the parents all thinking that “their kid” is the next nba superstar. When they go away to school they aint on the talk radio airwaves. I guarantee Kam Jones parents aren’t on local Milwaukee talk radio
