Unprecendented?
Has any school had to replace head football, basketball, AD and President in the same scholastic year? Not even sure where to find that data.

The fact that there isnt some Kent State-like tragedy or massive controversy driving the departures makes it almost impossible to believe.

Interesting question. Such an occurrence is no doubt rare, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens more often than we’d suspect.

JMU has been an outlier in having very stable administrative leadership in the president’s and AD positions. The average length of university presidents in office are between 5-6 years. ADs are likely longer in situ. Who knows what the average length of service are for FB and MBB HC’s at the same school, but my guess is somebody has researched that number.

RE: Unprecendented?
Aside from Bourne retiring, the other three are leaving due to positive performance.
How many schools would like to have the success that we've had? Even if it led to more turnover in staff?
They all left their respective positions with JMU in a better place than when they started.
The challenge is sustaining that and bringing in the right people to carry the torch.
So far JMU appears to have hit a home run with Chesney.

We have an opportunity to (continue to) show that JMU is more than one person/coach.
This is a huge challenge that most schools cannot accomplish.

I think the AD hire is the most important hire of them all. That is also the one that JMU has known about for some time. I do find it interesting that it hasn't been announced yet. I have a feeling JMU already knows who it is. (Their ability to keep these things quiet is also pretty darn impressive).
