RE: Total Revenues FBS 2022-2023 EADA
Since there is still a realignment question at the bottom of the FBS conference revenue rankings, with both conferences having an odd number of members, I had a look at the two under their presently slated 2025/26 membership.

"New" CUSA:
Liberty....................$62,539,066
Delaware*.....................$44,957,890
Florida International....$41,445,861
New Mexico State......$35,828,331
Middle Tennessee.........$35,578,198
Kennesaw State*........$30,783,810
Texas-El Paso..............$30,697,874
Louisiana Tech.............$27,808,448
Western Kentucky........$25,400,653
Sam Houston State*..........$22,484,292
Jacksonville State*......$22,159,540
[Q1/Median/Q3] = $26.6m/$30.8m/$38.6.0m
SIQ Deviation = 39%
Range Deviation = 131%

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"New" MAC (much easier to put together):
UMASS....................$47,604,239
Western Michigan.......$40,804,290
Miami.......................$39,126,336
Central Michigan........$35,740,895
Eastern Michigan........$35,555,897
Toledo.......................$34,919,422
Kent State.................$33,308,164
Buffalo......................$30,478,190
Bowling Green............$30,310,123
Ohio..........................$30,138,630
Ball State...................$28,979,328
Akron........................$28,265,821
Northern Illinois..........$24,692,669
[Q1/Median/Q3]= $29.6m/$33.3m/$37.4m
SIQ Deviation = 23%
Range Deviation = 68.8%
Both are top heavy, with a substantial gap between #1 and #2, though CUSA is in general more spread out and the MAC in general more compact, with the range gap 131% of the CUSA median and the 68.8% of the MAC median, and the semi-interquartile gap 39% of the CUSA median and 23% of the MAC median.
The numbers also suggest that the most "natural" move for the MAC to return to an even number of full members is Illinois State, which would slot in with a group of 5 MAC schools within $2m of its budget, on the borderline between Q1 and Q3, while a Missouri State move to CUSA is more aspirational, as it would slot into the last quartile with a substantial gap between it and Q2.
UNCC isnt in CUSA
JSU, Kennesaw St, Sam Houston and Delaware were either playing FCS or transistioning during this timeframe which will skew the numbers. JSU and Sams spend this will be a better comparison then KSU and Delaware the next year.
Also these numbers and those from the Knight-Newhouse database don't jive. There is a disconnect in accounting somewhere. The discrepancy for WKU is over $15 million.
Knight Foundation, USA Today and most others that compile data use the reporting to the NCAA under the AUP for Div I schools. These are obviously what's reported for Title 9 reporting to the Federal Govt. There are different reporting requirements for each and still it's not like there's a GAAP for college athletics which would make comparing schools budgets is a worthwhile task. I investigated the differences in ODU's figures, as well as JMU's because VA publishes the NCAA AUP reports on the sate's Public Auditor's site and the differences were mostly Debt Services in the NCAA reporting that is not in the EADA reporting. There were some small differences in other things but that was mainly the difference. I highly doubt WKU has 15M in annual debt services though.
15 mil is purely athletic related debt service? No.
15 mil in university wide debt service? Close.
Man, do it in a hurry, sure to make a mistake. I copied the 2023/23 CUSA table from above then added then subtracted and stopped when I hit 11, and since I omitted NMSU, there was still one more departed school when I stopped. Fixed.
It narrows the SIQ Deviation some, but "new" CUSA still has substantially more.
Just putting down the numbers that are there. I can asterisk the transitioning schools, but these numbers are always going to be at a two to three year lag.
That could be different accounting for the contributions for the Fielldhouse / Press Box project, as the Knight-Newhouse database show debt increasing by $37.2m in 2022/23 (FY23), more than the total debt outstanding in FY22. EADA "not allocated expenses" are about $7m, and Knight-Newhouse debt service / lease / rental is $6.1m. Since they broke ground in November, 2023, I would assume that the financing was finalized in FY2023, so any costs that Knight-Newhouse either books up front instead of capitalizing or includes that the EADA reporting does not include would increase the FY2023 expenses.
Since institution support is the expenses in the year that are not covered by an external revenue source, increasing the expenses of a subsidized program accounted for in any fiscal year automatically increases the gross revenue by increasing the institutional support number.
