Women Portal
The following LR ladies have put their names in the Portal-
Mira Harris, Jaila Harris-Smith, Tia Harvey (Grad student), and Sha'Nequa Henry
We had no transfer additions at this point. To me, the biggest question is- Is Coach Foley coming back? We have had a new AD for a couple of weeks. It seems like he would have announced his retirement by now if that was his plan. Would be happily surprised if he is coming back.

Unless Foley is leaving for another school i would think he is in for another year. I can't see him leaving UALR high and dry this late in the game.

I tend to agree. The Portal has been open for a while and the high school signing period starts Wednesday. Ironically, there are probably a lot more high school kids available, to schools like us, as the bigger schools focus more and more on the Transfer Portal. We may only have them for a year or two, but I wouldn't mind bringing in some talented high schoolers. Still, I think we need to bring in some "mature" transfers who have been sitting on the bench at Power 5 schools.

I forgot that the new AD did not start until this Monday. If Foley was going to retire I think he might have felt that it would only be right to wait until the new guy got here. If they haven't done so already, I assume Frank Cuervo and Joe Foley will sit down and talk this week. A decision will likely come soon afterwards. At this point, I am a slight lean towards him staying for another season. I'd like to see him go out with a better season than he had this past year. But, I wouldn't blame him if he is fed up with having to deal with the "new normal"- i.e. transfer portal and NIL. Nick Saban had clearly had enough.

NO! Foley is not that kind of guy. If he was leaving he would have said so when the season was over to give us time to get a coach and recruit. Only a vindictive person would go out that way.

I tend to agree with you. But I just wonder if the fact that a new AD was coming in changed the calculus somewhat. I think he could announce that next season is his last year, but I don't know that he would want the attention that a "farewell" tour would bring.

I don't think he would want a farewell tour. He will announce his retirement when the conference tournament starts or ends. But he will give the AD ample notice.

Was surprised when Harris-Smith entered the portal until I saw Foley had signed a new good point guard

Sounds good. Is tough for a freshman to step in to the point guard spot, but hopefully she is up to it. Also hard for me to imagine that Joe would step away after recruiting and signing a girl from Russellville where he spent a good part of his career.

Add the following to the transfer "out" list- Courtney Davis, Trinity Hudson, and Camryn James. I assume Joe will bring in some transfers before this is over.

Still got?

Leilani Wimbish-Gay (good forward)

Jordan Holman (started having good minutes & play 2nd half of season)

Faith Lee (best player on team)

Mesi Triplett (really good post player)

Annemarie Batista (good 3 point shooter)

Emerald Parker (basically red shirted this year. She was 6’3” freshman who could back up Triplet this season)

Now I know Jayla Brooks was a senior but does she have any eligibility left? She is a really good shooter.

Sug Williams was another senior that played quality minutes. Does she have any eligibility left.

Plus we have new signees 5’6” point guard Brenna Burk and 5’9” guard Perina Leime .

Now if we can only sign Joe Foley for another year!

I'm starting to feel pretty confident that Coach Foley will be here next season. If we can add a couple of solid transfers we should be battling for the league title next season.

I don't think he would be signing players if he was leaving.
