AAC Hoops
Safe to say if Witchita State wasn't in the conference this year, we'd be looking at another TWO bid league, further cementing our mid-major status in the media. Ouch.

Glad the Shockers are here...REAL GLAD.

Injuries have killed UCF/SMU so that hurts. But even if they were good, they'd only contribute to beating up on each other and that's a problem right now because we get zero respect in the media.

When you are respected, beating up on each other actually reinforces the perception that you are a strong conference. When you aren't respected, it has the opposite effect.

The lack of respect is warranted for the most part: we have sent two and three teams to the NCAA the last few years and none making any real noise. This is killing us now (notice the bubble talk because Houston lost to Memphis. This is ridiculous). This conference tanked at the worst time in history with the G5/P5 spotlight and it's been cast on college basketball. As a conference, we have basically begged them to label us mid-major, which now some have. The Big East was spared because during the same time Nova won it all, XU has been great, and a cast of others (Butler, Creighton, Providence, SH, etc.) have been solid to good.

Bottom line, the AAC has dug itself into a nice hole in basketball and the only way out is for the teams that DO make the NCAA to do something and also for Temple, Memphis, and UCONN to get back to being ranked.

We need at least three this year and four (temple) would be great.

UC, WSU, and UH need to make some noise in March.

When the AAC formed most of us looked at basketball and thought, we are fine there...four to five bids a year with six in a good year. This is where we SHOULD be.
