my guess is that TW is not thrilled.

Imagine you just read that in the paper. It's called role reversal.

I'm not defending him in the least, and at best, it was dumb. I'm just saying that if they need this to motivate them, then it is sad. It's still just a fan talking trash.

Well said.

Scott Forman the fan can say what he said.
Scott Forman the university-affiliated booster club president cannot.

he said it...he was right and if we want to be a big-time program we have to learn to win when another team wants to tear us to pieces. now our team has to go back us up and win that damn game. 04-rock

It is possible to be big time AND have class. They are not mutually exclusive.

we also might want to start acting like a 'big time' program.

the Pres. of your booster club spouting smack in the newspaper is not an example of how i want my 'big time' program perceived.

again...i agree with his sentiments. just not the forum in which they were voiced...

people can spin it however they want...it still makes Scott and the HH look small.

Quote:If Mississippi needs this to get motivated, then they are already a lost cause anyway.

You are right they are already motivated, Just like they were last year when they LOST to us.

Quote:Why would anyone give two $hits what a fan says? He may be prez of a booster club, but he has no say or influence with the team or coaches, and therefore he is just another fan.

You are dead wrong about him being "just another fan" He is an OFFICIAL ambassador for the University. This is a classless slam at a local rival that serves no purpose.

When the President of the HH speaks to the press or in an open forum he IS speaking for the University and he needs to use some common sense.

Y'all can all take the "it'll fire them up" view if you want.

What he said reflects what just about everyone on here already thinks.

They can use that as locker room material if they want. You don't think they have plenty of motivating stuff already? Revenge from last year, win it for the ATOs, HH statement in CA....

I think Tommy has plenty of bulletin board material for our guys. Have you seen what they say on their message board about us? That's enough to fill a complete volume.

Plus, TW might be able to use TFS's quote as motivation for us as well.

Calipari says stuff about Ole Miss, UT & the SEC and we love it. We eat it up.

Don't start getting worried about what Ole Miss thinks about us. We already know what they think.

i think it's ridiculous what scott said.

i think it's low class, trite, and the university and tommy i'm sure are not happy with him.

We are not at Ole Miss' level whether we win the game or not.

Face it, coming off our best season in 40 years we are 30,000 season tickets behind them.

Butts in the seats, folks, matters.

and for an elected president of the official tiger booster group, it's wrong.

while I agree that something like this probably shouldn't be said by someone in this capacity,

sometimes the truth hurts!

win or lose Saturday, this will not be the determining factor. While I'm sure some Mississippi fans will not let it die either way, it will soon become a non-issue.

"We are not at Ole Miss' level"...

Now we're starting to sound like rebel fans.

Take away their $7M payout from the SEC and what does their budget look like? Not even as high as ours.

GL this morning was talking about how there were several Tiger teams in the 60s that would have consistently played in bowls if there had been more bowls available.

He said back then the Liberty Bowl refused to invite Memphis even though we were deserving. Their reason was that they wanted a bigger name.

Heck, had Memphis been able to play in bowls consistently back then, what would our history look like now? It would have changed national perception, recruiting, etc.

I don't think Ole Miss is light years beyond us. Heck, before TT came and resurrected them, they weren't drawing squat. The difference between then and now? Wins.

They're just a few years ahead of us in ticket sales, but not in the quality of team that will be on the field come Saturday.

Please stop justifying what he said by bringing up a bunch of stuff that is not relevant at all.

It was a stupid, classless thing to do. If they had done the same thing, you would be going crazy.

This one is a no-brainer. :chair:

Classless? Maybe, as determined by some.

Does he represent the university as much as Cal does?

Cal has an official connection to the university, he's employed by it.

TFS is the president of a volunteer organization. Is the HH "officially" connected to the university? I don't know, but I assume it's not.

Cal says we don't need the SEC. He says we want to play national games implying that the local SEC teams are insignificant.

Be honest -- how many of you loved hearing Cal say this? I know I do. How many of you went on the record saying he his statements were classless? Some of you, maybe. But, by and large, most of us are thrilled to hear Cal say that stuff.

Of course, Ole Miss, Ark, and UT start calling him names because they don't want to hear it.

How can it be that our two universities have a good relationship when Cal says stuff like that about Ole Miss? Could it be because the relationship is stronger than words uttered by people about games?

RC said that he's spoken to every AD in the SEC West and every one of them said they would NOT vote for our inclusion in the SEC.

Yet we have a good working relationship with them.

I think we're stepping off the edge a bit here.

the HH is not part of the university.

Scott said nothing that has not been put on this board (that is pursued as closely as the CA is if not more by our runt friends) by just about everyone of you.

was what anything he was quoted as saying anything different than we are confronted with on talk radio, the internet and columnists on a daily basis?

If it were anyone but Scott Forman (who 75% of you on this board have a hard on for although you have probably never met or know practically zero about) who was quoted, would this have been the only topic of discussion today?

i think its beyond funny.

Definitely an exercise in poor judgement.

Hopefully, TFS will realize in the future that acting in his current capacity means that the way he chooses to represent HIS views could be a reflection on the university and the many fans who do not see the rivalry with Ole Miss as a superiority contest.

more like the few fans from either side who do not see the rivalry with Ole Miss as a superiority contest, because obviously most of them do see it that way.

Somebody's getting defensive.

I agree with what Scott F. said.

I still think he's still a bozo for multiple other reasons.
