gmaniac1, what I was refering to about Free Shoes University is that everyone uses that term to describe Florida State University where as I just wanted to let people know that there is another university out there with far more players and far more money involved in the same type of Free shoes scandal which resulted in up to 4 game suspensions for the school. The school I'm refering to is the University of Wisconsin. Same type of scandal, yet no one knows about it. In terms of players and money it is far far less then what FSU was involved in. Hey its smack, Free shoes or whatever, just wanted to pass along something about another university involved in the same thing thats all, no hard feelings. Just making sure people understand we are not the only school dealing with scandals. I get a kick out of Oklahoma and Notre Dame fans the most when they have something to say about the crimiNOLES, I love it. If people want to talk the smack, then at least they should know what the hell they are talking about.

To LRT and DT, to try and answer your question about wanting the ACC Championship back is sometimes people read a post differently then others. You have 1 post but 15 different people reading it, well your going to have 15 different answers to it. No DT you didnt say anything about wanting the championship back. Now again, to answer from my point of view is that when I first read DT's post about, will the Noles have to forfeit the ACC title because of the rumors running wild in Tallahassee about the gambling, you can take that as smack or as a simple question that needs to be answered. For the Maryland fans, they have to remember, after we lost to NC St, I heard alot of talk (smack) however you want to put it, about the ACC Championship coming back to Maryland, and just forgot about UVA. Now IMHO, if you take DT's post about the Noles possible forfeit of a title, Marylands happy because we lost to NC St thinking the title was theirs, the Noles beating Maryland and starting a thread with the word Criminoles, how do expect Nole fans to react. If I started a thread with Maryland Sucks or something negative about the university, especially if a scandal involving one of your players just broke out, I can only imagine what the Maryland fans would have to say

fair enough G&G, sorry I missed the meeting on the Wisconsin thing but you know, well, it's Wisconsin, no disrespect intended to their fans

FSU, w/o the Free Shoes remark, is more of a spotlight team, so to speak, therefore, they gonna get berated for it more often... I guess take it as a compliment??? I dunno

Believe me you're not alone as a fan of a college with a rep of doing the same things other college and towns do, AND might I add being bashed for it constantly, even when nothing is happening

Maryland fans get that crap all the time, not justifying past, present, or future actions, just stating a fact

Do y'all live in a time warp...

The initial investigation began in JULY!

Conducted, internally at Florida State Univ and the
NCAA was involved. Nothing came of it.

Even if something were to surface now...Florida State
acted quickly on rumors in the summer with the blessing
of the NCAA. It's called "Institutional Control!"

Sorry...

Have to go dig something else up...

Actually, just think if it were true. Were Seminoles
shaving points? I knew we should have beaten Maryland
at Maryland by more than 37-10!

haha haha haha haha haha haha

Have they removed Greg Jones' cleats from the chest
of EJ Henderson yet?

haha haha haha haha haha haha

Ain't it too bad that right now it's just allegations and that the media jumped the gun again...

"Florida State University and the Tallahassee Democrat fired salvos at each other Thursday through released statements. It began when the Democrat published a report on the front page with the following heading: "Gambling probe extends to FSU players". The story went on to say that a campus-wide gambling investigation extended to FSU football players, student trainers and managers in the university's athletic department.

Thursday afternoon Florida State issued a strong statement denying that the investigation currently extended to any student athletes and called the story "inaccurate and very misleading." Shortly thereafter the Associated Press reported that, at the request of FSU, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) has been investigating the on-campus gambling allegations. FDLE Commissioner Tim Moore confirmed that, other than rumors about Adrian McPherson and gambling, no other students or athletes have been implicated."

Go Seminoles... Neuter 'em Dawgs

And the investigation ain't over yet, so we'll just have to wait & see whether the old adage, "Where there's smoke, there's fire" holds up.

Hope the fire hydrants are working on campus... 03-wink

DT...

I keep bringing it up...because you are a "troll"...

Foam around your mouth...Thinking that FSU is
going to have NCAA sanctions and the what-not.

It is not a serious allegation against, Florida State
Univ. It is a serious allegation against students
who attend it.

It was first investigated by FSU in July...The NCAA
was informed. When AD got into trouble...he was
promptly booted from the team.

The NCAA..."Twit"...is interested in only one thing...
"Institutional Control!" If you have it...ain't nothing
serious gonna happen.

In this matter...FSU has been on top of it from the start...
So quit begging for all this crap to befall on FSU...Our
third team will finish in the top tier of the ACC!

Dockett involved in criminal investigation

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ESPN.com news services

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State defensive tackle Darnell Dockett was suspended for the Nokia Sugar Bowl, the latest in a string of Seminoles punished this season.

"He broke one of our rules and is suspended for this ballgame," coach Bobby Bowden said Sunday. "He will not make the trip."

Bowden wouldn't elaborate, but Dockett's lawyer, Stephen Dobson, told the Tallahassee Democrat that police are investigating something that happened at a store in Tallahassee's Governor's Square mall.

Dockett has not been arrested nor charged with a crime in the matter. Dobson stressed that Dockett is not involved in any of the gambling investigations at Florida State.

Police Lt. Sandra Garber declined to comment.

"It is important to remember that Darnell is presumed to be innocent," Dobson told the Democrat. "Probable cause has not even been determined at this point concerning any of this.

"Darnell Dockett has never been in any trouble, has never been arrested, and I'm sure any parent of a 21-year-old can understand how concerned his family is about this."

Florida State already was without its top two quarterbacks for the Sugar Bowl against No. 4 Georgia.

Chris Rix was suspended for missing a final exam, while Adrian McPherson was kicked off the team after being accused of stealing a check and is now being looked at in a gambling investigation.

Dockett, a junior who was considering an early entrance into the NFL draft, started all 13 games for Florida State and led the defensive line in tackles with 58. He will be replaced by senior Tony Benford in the Sugar Bowl, Bowden said.

After Florida's 37-13 victory over Florida State last season, then-Gators coach Steve Spurrier claimed Dockett intentionally hurt his running back, Earnest Graham.

Seth Ravenna, co-owner with former Florida State tailback Warrick Dunn of Sports Fanatic, told the Democrat there was an "incident that was resolved internally, and we're happy."

"It does not look like the company will be pursuing this criminally," he said, adding that Dunn contacted police but Ravenna did not know the nature of that conversation.

Dockett, who left campus for his Burtonsville, Md., home Saturday afternoon, could not be reached for comment by the Democrat.

Dobson previously represented former Seminoles kicker Sebastian Janikowski in two cases -- a charge of bribing a Tallahassee police officer in 2000 and a charge of drug possession in 2001. Janikowski was acquitted at trial in both cases.

Yup, Darnell Dockett, a kid from Maryland, when into a store co-owned by Warrick Dunn and got a huge discount on some NFL merchandise. And had to pay $200 extra dollars to the employees of the store. Of course, those 2 employees are in a world of trouble too. Even though Dockett returned the merchandise, and the owners of the store didn't want to press changes, the Tallahassee Police Department continued the investigation.

So two bad apples makes the rest of the sports world think all Seminoles are criminoles... what a JOKE
