You also caught us on probably our 2nd worst game of the season. Possibly a testament to how good you guys are, but also, we just didn't have it today.

Yeah, they were also the favorite in the game. I'd say blowing them out after being the underdog is something to be proud of.

No matter what, UM fans will always look bad to the rest of the ACC because we are the most exciting and ecstatic fans about our program. That is not taken well with our southern friends who are more laid back in nature.

nate jonesacc Wrote:I just got back from part of the Duke-Maryland football game at Wallace Wade.

Of course, it was an absolute mauling. But, the class, or lack thereof, displayed by Maryland's fans was disgraceful.

1) Everytime Maryland scored, the entire Maryland section chanted "YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK! YOU AND YOU AND YOU AND YOU! YOU SUCK! YOU SUCK! YOU AND YOU AND YOU AND YOU!" over and over again. Hell, we probably do suck, but that was absolutely pitiful to hear that from a fanbase that considers themselves "classy".

2) Maryland fans behind me yelling "Break his leg! Punch that ref in the mouth! What a bullsh*t call!!"

3) A few Maryland fans chucked empty water bottles at Duke's sidelines. Never heard of sh*t like that before.

That, coupled with some Maryland football war stories on thedevilsden.com, and all sorts of other BS, leads me to believe that you guys have possible the most disgraceful fan base in the ACC.

BTW, the turnout was actually pretty good for Dukies. It was about 80% blue and white and 20% red in the crowd.

Oh, and one last thing, congrats on your win, you smashed us.
I agreed, Maryland fans are the WORST in the ACC!!! which makes me sad since in was born in that state and graduated from jr and senior high there in Wheaton...

Well at the MSU/Kentucky game a week or so back, there were a couple of instances where refs were dangerously close to be drilled by bottles during the game. At the Ole Miss/Florida game a security guard was actually knocked out cold by a half full coke bottle.

On a not-very-classy but somewhat humorous note, during the aforementioned MSU/UK game, whenever UK kicked a field goal or extra point and the ball went into the endzone student section, they would play keep away with the ball when UK managers came to retrieve them. Several occasions the ball was tossed out of the stadium. One time they drilled the scoreboard with it. I kind of felt sorry for the UK guy because he had to sprint up into the stands to get the ball and then back behind them to try again when thrown.

You ought be ashamed of yourself, MsNole, speaking about such that makes you feel better about yourself. You and Nate are the only two I could find in the entire credible message board community that had such silly and ridiculous things to say! I was at the game you describe, and I can tell you that Terp fans can get irrate, but you sure picked the wrong game to throw worthless critism about! Most of us were politely socializing amongst the very hospitable Duke host fans at the end of the game. Please tell me at what point during that game would we find ourselves dissatisfied? I can produce pictures which prove that Terp fans were nowhere near the sidelines of your bench as originally suggested by your flame bait friend. You can't tell me because you just like to speak a bunch of Nole baloney and trash some folks who beat your butt out of the ACC title last year and are about to do it again this year.

Good luck, MsNole, and I surely won't talk you down as badly as you do me. You deserve it, but I won't have that in my soul.

I have absolutely nothing to be ashamed of. Maryland fans on the other hand are childish, and very immature to say the least.

Well, Maryland, you sure don't have much to cheer about now that Virginia beat the crap out of you this evening to the tune of 48-13. Thank you Virginia!!! 04-cheers

Well MsNole, your team couldn't even win the ACC title itself, Virginia had to do it for you...maybe next time you should win your own game before you knock someone else's.

And it's classy to talk smack about a team when it's down? 05-nono Even UVA fans (who are the only people that can really talk smack this week) have been more gracious than you. Ah well...what can you expect of somebody that generalizes an entire university population, past and present?

BTW...Jenibu...you RULE!!! :D

right on jenibu and LRT -- FSU is in no position to talk smack, with a football program that's beginning to lose its touch, and a craptacular basketball program

I've noticed that F$U fans have had a lot of gripe about our loss to UVA but forgetting that they haven't been able to beat the same team for how many years straight? They are supposed to be soooo great in football so how is this possible? At least UM has taken every team in basketball, including Duke in their own house two years in a row, and won the NC. They weren't even picked to do so. 04-cheers 04-bow :D

Hmmmmmmmm, seems interesting to me.
