Hell Clemson would beat Duke's second team. Well maybe not, but i wouldn't put down as a sure win.

Damn cocky, the only way he doesn't come off as looking like a total a$$, is if they don't lose to any ACC team.

And by the way, Clemson could beat Duke's second team.

The only reason I would agree with DT2 about Nik Caner-Medley over Shavlik Randolph is that Coach Williams would probably give him a better chance to play than Coach K. At least traditionally speaking, history only shows that. However, my pick will be either Jarret Jack or Todd Galloway. They may get enough time for stats that would compliment a ROY.

And nate, NCM did get a national player of the year award. He has all the tools to be an off-guard and/or small forward. Juan Dixon was the 64th ranked player in the country coming in and turned into its best. Right now, NCM is around the 77th ranked player in the nation.

Was Juan Dixon ACC ROY? No, he was doo doo his freshman year.

And Damascus, you are the facking ignorant one, spouting off like you know the person behind Harry Potter.

PLEASE tell me how thinking that any of those players is better than Nik Caner-Medley is ignorant.

IN FACT, the only thing there is to support either way is rankings and all the players mentioned by him are FAR higher than Caner-Medley.

So shut your mouth, moron.

First of all, Juan Dixon wasn't even complete "doo-doo" his freshman year as he was a bench rider behind Steve Francis, you know the co-rookie of the year for the NBA. However, he did accomplish ACC POY which to me is much better than ROY. Anyhoo, the point to be made here, and you may be on to something nate... OPPORTUNITY TO PLAY. That is what will constitute who gets what award for ROY or POY. Just because you play for Duke or are a McD's All-American that plays for Duke doesn't guarantee a ROY or POY anymore in ACC country. Juan Dixon changed that last year as his own conference recognized who was the best. Who cares about his freshman year when it was his senior year that he showed the nation who was the best by winning a NC, w/o riding anyone's coat tails. I compare him to Battier and Cleaves from prior champions before. Juan deserves more respect than that.

nate...read harry's post...he said he has never heard of NCM (even though the high school coaches of American named him player of the year)...how can I possibly think he knows anything he is talking about when he makes a judgmen like that, might I ask? I am sure he has seen shav, reddick, and McCants soooooo much that he knows how good they are, huh?

btw...when did rankings ever mean anything when it comes to production in high scholl versus production in college?

One last thing...what happened to letting people fight their own battles? I am sure Harry can take care of himself...why must you get involved? I thought we had talked about this???

Ummm, can I get a link where someone called him the player of the year? Maybe in MAINE! But I have a hard time believing that anyone besides Lebron James or Luol Deng would get high School player.

oh wow!!! He's never heard a top 75 player in the country. The guy is mediocre. There are plenty of Duke fans who don't know who Nik Caner-Medley is.

btw...when did rankings ever mean anything when it comes to production in high scholl versus production in college?

Wow, another display of hypocrisy. Should I just put it on my calendar? Daily note to self: Expect a 2 edged sword from dumb*** today.

YOU JUST TOOTED NCM'S HORN BECAUSE HE WAS "NHSPOY OF MAINE" or something! Now you talk about how high school rankings have nothing to do with college? Which way does it go? MAKE UP YOUR MIND!!!

One last thing...what happened to letting people fight their own battles? I am sure Harry can take care of himself...why must you get involved? I thought we had talked about this???

Sorry, idiots really get my juices going.

Actually, to be technical, for most, if not all Dixon's freshman year he was trying to qualify.

Don't get me totally wrong, Dixon is one of the classiest player's I've ever seen grace a college court and I have a lot of respect for him. BUT, if he was as good as Damascus is claiming NCM will be, Gary would have found a way for Dixon to play. Whether it be splitting time with Francis or playing alongside him, he would have played. The fact is, it's very rare to find a top 75 player out of HS become ACC ROY, or even score 10 ppg. Could NCM be one of those very rare cases? Yes. Is it likely? Hell no.

The "experts" agree that Shavlik Randolph is one of the top 7 players in the nation. And... if he hadn't been injured this summer, he probably would be top 2. I'm not kidding, he was #1 or #2 in every ranking before his injury.

It will be interesting to see what Duhon can do this year. He obviously seems to have a big mouth, but he has yet to really lead a team and prove himself when it counts. From what I've heard and read about the games in London, Duhon was unimpressive. Some observers even went to the extent that they wouldn't be surprised if Dockery challenged Duhon for the starting spot. Duke is going to need a leader/go-to-man this year, and it is either going to be Duhon or Jones. Look for it to be Jones, especially if he has purchased an offensive game over the summer! 04-cheers

NATE...remember our deal....you don't want to do this...but, there is one thing...I think you should look up the meanings of the word award and ranking because last time I checked they weren't the same thing...

btw...<a href='http://www.nhsca.com/2002_awards/athletes/basketball.htm#men' target='_blank'>HERE</a> and <a href='http://www.pressherald.com/sports/highschool/basketball/020827canermed.shtml' target='_blank'>HERE</a> for NCM

the best stuff..."While playing at Maryland with future teammates and a few former Terrapins such as Juan Dixon, Byron Mouton and Chris Wilcox, Caner-Medley caught the eye of a man who sponsors a team in the Rucker Park League.

Mouton played on the same team.

'I played for the Source Magazine team,' said Caner-Medley. 'The magazine covers rap music and some basketball. The tournament was called the Entertainer's Classic.

'I played on the same team as Mouton, Steve Francis and Jerome Williams. It's a real famous summer league. The guys play for the love of the game. There was a huge crowd.

'I was the only white guy in the place. In fact, they told me I was the first white guy to play in a game in the league in three years.'
Caner-Medley doesn't remember how many points he scored, but he won't forget one basket. He dunked on a breakaway.

'The crowd went nuts,' he said.

I would like to have seen Shav and his "I can't cut my own steak" ass play in the Rukcer League...

riiiight.....ACC ROY 04-cheers

Hell no I don't wanna bet on the football game, y'all will kill us.

BTW, I guess NCM was NHSPOY by some HS coaches league. Congrats to him.

You mean to say that NCM played in the same league with Terrapin GREAT Byron "I like cars. I did a report on cars. I went to a car factory. See the factory" Mouton??? He must be UNREAL now!!

Who cares about Ruckers? It's street ball. Last time I checked, they don't play street ball where it REALLY counts.
